Please suggest a better tool re: crimped primers

I use the Rcbs military crimp removers in a motorized case prep center. As its less brass handling I do.
I handle brass twice and do lube, decap, size, trim, chamfer, debur, brush neck, remove crimp, brush primer pocket.

I tried the ch 4d press mounted swager, the hornady primer pocket reamers, used a friends rcbs bench mount swager, and used a friends dillon swager.

Of the bench mounted I found the dillon more natural to use.

Lots of ways to solve the problem, this one works best for me.

The Hornady LnL tool looks great but here is what I have been using from CTS Engineering. The one thing I do know is the right tool for you will make this part of reloading much more pleasurable and I am one that shoots to reload :)

I have both of those, and prefer the RCBS. The Hornady can cut into the sides of the primer pocket if not used very carefully. I dulled the edges on the part that would do that on mine, but now I just use the RCBS tool since buying it.

That's why I bought the RCBS one, based on your recommendation.:)

Where did you get it? I looked at their website and do not find it. A video review stated it does not come with the bits??

Rcbs BENCH mount pocket swager. Especially if you don't have a single stage press. I use that and touch it with the brass deburr tool as well. Lube the swaging head before use too. Resulting brass looks and feels just like commercial equivalents.

I use an RCBS Primer Pocket Swagger Combo, on a prehistoric Anasazi Pacific Power C press.
Paraphrasing Mr. Miyagi, swagged in, swage out. It seems like a better idea than cutting to me.

He makes great products but so busy that the website is outdated.
I think you can email him from the website.

yeah i seem to remember when i reamed them out, the cut had to end about half way down into the primer pocket. looks like your about 1/4-1/3 in

one of the reasons for the swager- for fear of prematurely loose primer pockets
I've always used the swage method. Its simple & once set up, pretty quick. I tried cutters, but felt that too much brass was removed. Also, the primer pockets seemed to be a bit on the loose side after a couple of loadings & firings w/"normal" loads. This did not happen on cases that had primer pocket swaged. Once the brass is cut away, you can't put it back!

I tried reaming with some different methods and then the RCBS primer pocket swager. They all worked but I finally settled on the CH4D primer pocket swager. With the RCBS swager you have to set up the pin that fits inside with each brand/year of brass. with the CH4D you set the brass in the shell holder and run the ram up. No adjustment to make. AND it sits on the top of the SS press. From the videos it works almost as fast as the Dillon but is much less expensive.:D

I've used about every method listed here and I've settled on two. If I ream the crimp I like the Wilson tool the best. If I swage the crimp I like the Dillon tool.
