Harry Reid may not even let it come to a vote.

Harry Reid needs to be motivated to keep that from happening.
Polite letters should be sent to him reiterating that we know that there's an election Nov. 4, 2014 that could be subject to the backlash of any firearms, magazine or ammunition bans and that we would dedicate our money and time to see that any supporter for an AWB lost in their primary or general election at that time. Point out that former president Clinton just warned Democratic Party contributors and officials against underestimating the dedication and power of our opposition to a ban with good cause. Remind him that others have pointed out that while people in favor of a ban may spend a little time and a little money supporting it those of us that will fight it will spend much much more time and money to stop a ban. Remind him that the Clinton era studies by the CDC, National Research Council and the DoJ U.Penn. all said there was no conclusive data supporting the AWB as having any benefit and even identified then that rifles made up such a small number of firearms used in violent crime that their effect was undetectable in the studies. Point out the violent crime rate has fallen constantly since the AWB and that it is at an all time low. Offer something as well as opposing legislation. Point out that NICS is inefficient and has data gaps that need to be fixed so that people like Cho pass the system checks. Ask for real studies into the impact of medication to treat personality and psychological disorders on violence. Expand that to ask about studies on violence and the relationship to medication to treat sleep disorders or ADD/ADHD. Offer solutions while opposing pointless and draconian laws that do nothing.
