Pocket carry.

I can easily get a full firing grip on my Glock 42 carried in an Alabama pocket holster in the front pocket of my Lee jeans. The bottom 3 fingers can be used to push off the holster for the draw and it is presented with a full firing grip. The gun does have Ameriglo Agent sights, and I rock the gun back a little on the draw just to be sure that the rear sight does not snag on the pants. The junky stock sights would present less of a possible issue in that regard. (File photo. The wallet is just to show scale.)

I have the same holster for an Sig P365-380. I can get a full firing grip, but the gun is a bit clunkier and not as smooth on the draw.

The Alabama holsters is what I use for my PM45, I really like it. I also have one for my LCP but it’s to small, occasionally the entire gun lays flat, as in sights facing straight down, horizontally.

You have some bad a** pockets if you carry a G30 in them. I carried a G30 IWB for years and she is not light with a full mag of 45s...

When I was younger and dumber I pocket carried a W. German P220 for a few months.

If you find pants or shorts with pockets that work just right for one of your EDC's, go back and buy more.

This. Buy the garment to fit the gun/holster, not the other way around. Specifically, buy the pockets of the garment to fit the gun. I pocket carry a Beretta Nano these days. I don't wear skinny jeans, but neither do I wear a droopy sail for pants. There are many commonly found pants and shorts that allow for the easy draw of a micro-9 but that are still decently cut. The first thing that I do when considering the purchase of a garment is put my hand in the pockets.

Sorry for the spotlight OT but the 4 rules should always be follower even when taking pictures. There is no reason to have a finger on the trigger is several.pictures when only taking a picture.

What Tallball and commygun said. A lot depends on your preferred style of dress and your physique, and a lot depends on the size and shape of the pocket. Bigger is not necessarily better if the gun gets whopperjawed or if the pocket is so deep the gun is banging into your leg or swinging around with every step. I tried carrying in cargo pockets for about ten minutes before giving up on that. Better to have them closer to the hip so they don't move as much when I'm moving.

I have also added seams to pockets to make them fit my gun and holster better.

I've pocket carried LC9S and BG380 and even a Charter Bulldog with the small wood grips in soft Uncle Mike's and DeSantis holsters, and have made my own leather holsters as well. Both autos tended to print more than I like but I still carry them from time to time. XDS in .45 is a little bit clunky for pocket for me. If I were a bigger guy I could maybe pull it off. P938 has only a thumb safety between the trigger and the cocked hammer ('cause I'm a lefty I have an ambidextrous safety) and I could see that being pushed off safe pretty easy just by brushing up against something. As much as I really thought the 938 would be my primary carry gun when I bought it it's mostly a safe queen now.

Most recently I've gone with a S&W 442 (hammerless). I think the shape of it is less likely to print gun! in a pocket. Currently it's in the same DeSantis holster that I also use for the LC9s.

I carried my LC9s in a DeSantis pocket holster constantly until I bought my Shield Plus, which I now pocket carry in a Recluse holster. When I first carried the Shield my wife asked, "Did you buy a new cell phone?"

That's cool enough for me.

Other posters have mentioned this in other contexts, and I finally started paying attention...

A pattern in your garment helps hide the shape of your CC handgun.

I usually wear camo shorts on errands for that reason. It really does help compared to solid-colored shorts that are otherwise identical.

I’ve pocket carried my .44 Bulldog in a cheap Uncle Mikes pocket holster and a Desantis Nemesis. Ironically, the slightly bigger size of Bulldog makes it easier to get a grip.

I've always used DeSantis Nemesis holsters for pocket carry. Usually it's a very small pistol, though -- Kel-Tec P32, Beretta Pico, or SIG P238. I'm one of those older, baggy-pants kind of guys, though, so I've never really had a problem getting a full firing grip on the pistol in my pocket.

Agree with those that say that P365 and G42 are borderline for pocket carry; it's all good until you need to draw the thing.

Jeans = OWB and sometimes IWB.

I can only pocket carry (front pocket) in cargo shorts. I get Sonoma cargo shorts from Kohls. They go to just above my knee and have some stretch in the material. The cargo pocket aids in breaking up the profile of the gun.

I too am using an Alabama Front Pocket holster

I like that it has what they call a "side thumb release" which allows you to push the holster off the gun while drawing it from your pocket.

Below you can see it with my Ruger LC9s Pro. I carry 2 spare mags in my other front pocket in a Desantis Mag Packer.

My keys, wallet, and cell phone go in my cargo pockets.

When I was down in Florida I was standing right next to my Sister In-Law (hard core lib) when my nephew unloaded and handed me the Glock 22 he was carrying IWB. I checked it out and gave back to him. Then I said I also am carrying.

My sister in-law looked me up and down and couldn't see that I was carrying, and stated so. I pulled my Ruger LC9s Pro out of my front pocked, unloaded it, and handed it to him.

So the concealed carry pants came in. Pretty impressed. I ordered the cargo shorts. Good heavy material. Snaps work exactly as designed.

The gun rides below the crease of your thigh. And, the depth is adjustable by folding the bottom of the pocket on a Velcro tab. The pocket is heavily lined to prevent printing. And, the gun does not slap your thigh walking. Maybe at a hard run it would be noticable.

The gun rides more along the top of your thigh. Rather than along the outside of your thigh.

Terrible picture. But that’s me gripping my P365 through the pants leg.

Well worthy of more experimentation.

Seated draw is doable. But not fast. Standing is very fast. The push out with the wrist pops two snaps allowing a full firing grip draw.

And, the owner is a gun toter. Designed it himself and, personally emails and chats if you have questions.

May not be a full time carry option for me, but, a useful tool in the tool box.

I’ve occasionally pocket carried. Usually an old 642 in a homemade leather holster.

And. It worked pretty well.

Decided to try my P365. Ordered a couple holsters.

The first is made by J&J. The back part is a flap, hinged at the bottom, so you can slip your hand around the grip.

.....

In a pair of 5-11 cargo shorts, it looked like a laptop in my pocket. Just huge. I returned it.

I had a DeSantis Superfly. Same general idea. It has a big flap that's supposed to break up the outline of the gun. I got this from a gunboard for sale listing. When I got it, I found it way too big for me to want to carry the usual gun (XDS at the time) in the usual location (front pocket). I immediately "fllipped it", and found a new home with a local guy.

Which is too bad. The DeSantis Nemesis (the other holster you have pictured) is my usual go to for this.

The second problem with the J&J and the Desantis, is once I get a firing grip on the gun, it ain’t coming out. It’s the monkey making a fist in the jar problem.

For you folks that actually pocket carry anything larger than a KelTec. A Ruger .380. Seecamp, an J frame…etc. how in the hell do you actually get a firing grip on the gun AND get your hand out of the pocket?

Depends on you pockets. Not every pocket is suitable for this. The pants I usually wear have an expandable section in the waistline, just over the front pockets. (Yes, I am an "adipose-American".) Because of this, the pockets have to have a wide mouth.

While bitching to a buddy, he has a friend that swears by these.

"Oh, yeah! Another gimmick!"

For thin holsters, check out Mika. https://mikaspocketholsters.com/ Thin material, the holsters do not want to come out of the pocket.

"Oh, yeah! Another gimmick!"

I don’t know that I’d call it a gimmick. Even in 9-11 shorts, there was no way I could stick my hand in my pocket, grab a P365 and draw. It just wouldn’t come out. The pocket was big enough, the opening wasn’t.

I’m about 6’. 175. 34” waist. So, maybe if I wore bigger pants, the opening would be bigger.

These pants solve that problem by allowing the pocket mouth to almost double in size.

Is the concept of these shorts/pants that the pocket is the holster? Or do you use a holster in the pocket? Do I get a discount if I mention your name?

I pocket carry 90+ percent of the time. I am very intrigued with the idea of being able to carry a larger pistol than my DB9. Probably my Hellcat or CM45. Being able to pocket carry a .45acp really has a lot of appeal!

...Watched all the videos on the sight and ordered a coupe of shorts to try them out. The pocket is the holster. I look forwards to see how well they work.

Yes. The pocket is actually “gun” shaped at the bottom. And padded. It has Velcro to adjust how deep the gun rides. And Velcro strap to adjust, a little bit, where it rides. But, it’s roomy enough for a very thin Kydex holster or, one of the holsters they sell.

I’d comfortably carry a DA in in. Or, in my case, a P365 with a manual safety. A regular striker fired you would probably be OK. As it would be hard to get to the trigger, but I don’t think I would.

you can see how wide the mouth of the pocket is. The red line kinda shows where a normal pocket would be.

And this is the bottom folded up to adjust how deep I want the gun to ride.

I don’t know if we are tight enough to qualify for a buddy deal. :)

I ordered three pairs to tinker with. It seems like a worthwhile idea. The fact that the mouth of the pocket pops open with two snaps to allow drawing was the hot deal for me.

He has a bunch of videos explains everything.

Im interested in your thoughts when you try them.
