Pocket carry.

I’ve occasionally pocket carried. Usually an old 642 in a homemade leather holster.

And. It worked pretty well.

Decided to try my P365. Ordered a couple holsters.

The first is made by J&J. The back part is a flap, hinged at the bottom, so you can slip your hand around the grip.

Beautifully made. Great quality.

In a pair of 5-11 cargo shorts, it looked like a laptop in my pocket. Just huge. I returned it.

The second problem with the J&J and the Desantis, is once I get a firing grip on the gun, it ain’t coming out. It’s the monkey making a fist in the jar problem.

For you folks that actually pocket carry anything larger than a KelTec. A Ruger .380. Seecamp, an J frame…etc. how in the hell do you actually get a firing grip on the gun AND get your hand out of the pocket?

While bitching to a buddy, he has a friend that swears by these.

The concept impressed me enough to order a couple pairs of shorts. My opinion of them to be posted later.

I usually Appendix carry. But, I occasionally like to tuck in my shirt. This May be an option.

If anyone has any experience, let me know. (Probably should have asked before ordering them..oh well)
Check out MIKA holsters. Holster stays in pocket on the draw and you can easily reholster without removing the holster from your pocket. They’re easy on the wallet too.

Won’t lie, pocket carry is a convience chiice for me. I keep it simple and dont think too much about it.

I carry a j-frame with a boot grip in a pocket of my jeans.

The J-frame, although chunkier than my P365, disappears in a way the bigger pistol cannot, where most unobservant schmoes won’t notice, or won’t tumble to it even if they do notice the lump there.

I stick it in a cheap uncle mikes holster before it goes in the pocket. It basically has zero retention. The gun fills the holster such that if i draw it will stay in the pocket or fall away as i clear it. It’s almost too big for it. Getting a grip on the gun is no problem.

Whenever I pocket carry, I only wear pants that have good pockets for it. If I can't get a full grip on the gun in my pocket, and pull it out easily, then I won't wear such pants. I never wear blue jeans or any style of tight pants for this reason. My wardrobe consists of deep pocket straight cut dress paints, and Dockers cargo pants of various styles and colors. I can even carry a Walther PPK without issue, which I consider to be on the upper size/weight limit of pocket pistols.

Yep. I don’t overthink pocket carry either. It just fits my lifestyle, and I live on the upper gulf coast so 9 months out of the year we have but one season: humidity. The other three months are wetter.

I carry a Colt Agent in a Galco pocket holster (that I think is for a J frame, but it works). For me, the holster is to keep the Agent upright in my pocket, and those pockets include shorts, slacks and jeans (when the weather cooperates). If I draw quickly the holster sometimes come out and drops off, but mostly it gets hung in the pocket. The name of the game is get a secure grip. I don’t practice drawing on a regular basis, since I figure if I’m in that situation where I expect to have to actually draw, I’ve already got my hand in my pocket and securely on the grip. I admit I don’t practice drills where an assailant is charging me.

Without having a better carry method at the moment. I am mostly armed with my Walther PPS w/ light in a Sticky pocket holster. Despite marketing, it will not stay in my pocket when I practice drawing.

I can easily get a full firing grip on my Glock 42 carried in an Alabama pocket holster in the front pocket of my Lee jeans. The bottom 3 fingers can be used to push off the holster for the draw and it is presented with a full firing grip. The gun does have Ameriglo Agent sights, and I rock the gun back a little on the draw just to be sure that the rear sight does not snag on the pants. The junky stock sights would present less of a possible issue in that regard. (File photo. The wallet is just to show scale.)

I have the same holster for a Sig P365-380. I can get a full firing grip, but the gun is a bit clunkier and not as smooth on the draw.
These are my guns, holster, and method of draw.
Spot on, WYO; great pictures and explanation.
Thanks!

I pocket carry either a S&W J frame or Ruger LCR(.327) probably 100 days a year. Pretty much any day I wear jeans.

I currently pocket carry an LCP Max in a homemade leather holster.
Since I wear dress slacks every day, it's pretty easy to get a full grip and draw from my pocket. Jeans are tougher.
I tried the holster it came with and a Desantis Nemesis, and accessibility was fine, but I had issues with the mag release getting hit.
Due to job constraints, I've primarily pocket carried for the last ~15 years.
First a Keltec P3AT, then a Kimber Micro. I went to the Max around 2 years ago.
