I have a Kramer that fits my J-frame so snugly that it wants to come out of the pocket with the gun in some of my pants...

Which pocket holsters are guaranteed (well, you know) to stay in the pocket?

The Desantis Nemesis is pretty darn tacky on the outside. I'd be surprised if it came out with your gun.

Uncle Mikes's is cheap and works great with my SP101 DAO 2.25 inch in .357 in my right front pocket.

You can't do better than a Kramer. If it's too snug, wrap your J-frame in a single layer of Saran wrap and leave it in the holster overnight. That should stretch it out a bit.

If you decide you can't live with the Kramer, throw it my direction. :D

Some of this may be the pocket of the shorts I was wearing today - I've got to try several of my shorts/pants and see how everything works.

If gravity + friction is supposed to keep the holster in my pocket, it's not working. :uhoh:

Draw angle also affects holster retention. In loose pockets, try pushing your hand forwards as you draw, snagging the holster 'lip' above the hammer on your pocket lining.

If you still have trouble with the holster coming out of your pocket with the pistol, I've found that a violent shake while holding the pistol grip will send the holster flying. I've seldom found that necessary, but then, maybe my holster fits looser than yours. If I holster my gun and then hold the holster with the pistol grip down, my 638 will fall out of the holster by its own weight.

For my snubby revolvers, I actually use a Desantis Nemesis for the Glock 26/27. It actually seems to fit them better than the Nemesis for the J-frame. For me, the Nemesis stays in the pocket when I draw.

Mika's Pocket Holsters

Super guy..
I ordered a holster from him.. He said if you like it send a check, if you don't give it to someone who can use it..

I'm keepin' it and the check is in the mail.

Holster is light, simple, comfortable, and does NOT come out of your pocket.

I use a Hedley for my 642. The gun stays with in it quite well, but the holster doesn't want to hang onto the revolver during a draw.

Maybe the Kramer needs a little wearing in. You know, RJ recommended inserting a small strip of leather with the gun if his holsters are too tight. Line up the leather strip alongside the gun then push it in the holster. Repeat a few times and it should loosen up the holster quite well. I'll bet this would be just the thing to loosen up the Kramer. I'd use a stainless gun for breakin if I were you. This sort of breaking-in can put some fast wear on Titanium and Aluminum frames.

I have several favorite pocket holsters I have tried. My nicest is my Pocket concealment systems. ITs really nice in my 5.11 pockets that are larger than standard but its pricey. My second favorite is one by thr's very own Azrael. I really like this one, the price is right, it even looks nice. It has a hook that catches the pocket on the draw and I have enver had issues with the holster coming out with the gun. I also have used various uncle mikes and desantis nemesis, and while they work, I tend to only use them in tight pocket pants like suits and dockers.

I have no complaints with my DeSantis Nemesis.

I have two of them, one I have used for 4 years with my glock 26 its great.

The other one bought at the same time is for a snubbie revolver, the first day I used it my revolver fell out of my pocket and onto the floor of my office, while I was seated with another person in my office talking to me:cuss: I had to casually kick the gun under my desk and thankfully the other person did not see it. The nylon lining was too slick and the holster just a little too big to properly hold a smith 36.

Desantis make a leather pocket holster which is much better. I used one of those for 3 years, until I bought my kramer, which is a much better holster:)

When you draw use your index finger to give a little push on the edge of the holster until its broken in,to start the gun out, that will solve your problem.

Hi there,

I used the DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster and it works really well. It simply will not come out of your pocket when you draw.

However, the best holster that I have for my S&W 642-2 is the pictured Galco Front Pocket Carry Horsehide holster:

One of the wonderful things about it is that you can also reholster your pistol while it is in your pocket! Most pocket holsters simply collapse when you draw your pistol.

Also, you simply cannot draw it out of your pocket with your gun if you use it correctly.

The molded leather ones are nicer looking but I found less is more with a pocket holster...I use a simple uncle Mike's clip on with the clip removed...much less bulk and under 10 bucks....

My 649 rides in a Don Hume hip-pocket holster. Works fine with a pair of Wranglers. Not sure how effective it would be in baggier pants, though.

I agree...I have three leather pocket holsters for my 642. They are made by some of the top holster makers and expensive. The simple $11 # 3 Uncle Mikes works best for me.

Pocket Holster?

+1 for the DeSantis Nemis - use it all the time with my Mak and my Z70 and it NEVER comes out of the poscket of either my jeans or shorts in practice draws.
