A point that is not brought up with the speed shooters is the low powered loads that they use. Have them use standard pistols with plus P loads and they will slow down significantly due to increased recoil.

IDPA and IPSC/USPSA require a minimum of minor power factor of 125. That isn't very far from everyday 9mm which is about 130-135 PF which is considered an acceptable LEO load. BTW most of the minor shooters load to 130-135 to make sure they make minor when chronographed. Many/most of the IDPA/IPSC folks are shooting Major PF which now varies but is around 165-170 PF. Similarly the major shooters tend to load to 170-175 to make sure. Neither the minor or major loads are low powered loads. If you want low powered loads you should look at Steel Challenge and PPC.
