Which would you buy, and why?

How's your ammo/reloading stash? I would make sure that's shored up first, then...

My choice would be another nice lever gun. But out of your choices I would probably pick a new GP100.

I voted None of it because I agree with taking care of your ammunition stash first.

For me it is bigger thrill to buy a new (or new to me) firearm. However the great Obama Ammunition Panic reminded me that firearms are not much of much use or fun to shoot without ammunition. So for me I would spend most of my reward on ammo which actually doesn't buy as much as it may seem.

Unless of course a consecutive serial number pair of Ruger Wranglers comes along first then the balance will go towards ammo.

Nope got to be ammunition.

But the S&W Model 69 4" keeps tugging at me.

Nope most definitely ammo and that is my final answer.

You can find the discontinued Dan Wesson Valor for around that $1200 these days, which is one heck of a value. For my money the Valor is the best of the DW line and one of the best deals in production 1911s.

So I'd get one of thsoe, I'd love a backup stainless VBob to my often carried Duty Treat one

I voted the last option. From your description it doesn’t seem like upu’d actually get much more enjoyment by buying more stuff. If it were me in your position I’d shift gears away from stuff and towards buying an experience.

To keep it firearms related how about a shooting class? Bullseye, benchrest rifle, tactical rifle/pistol could all be a fun way to burn some disposable income.

Or, mix them both and take one of them 1911 building classes

Skylerbone

It might take a bit more money than you have set aside but I would go with a S&W Model 27 with a 5" barrel.

Along with a Model 686 with a 4" barrel are two of the best handling and balanced .357 revolvers ever made!

I would also consider a vintage Dan Wesson Pistol Pac!

In a semi-auto I would give serious consideration to a SIG P210 if I could find one that was affordable!

S&W revolver for me. There's a vendor that comes to the local shows near me. Without a doubt he has the nicest, mint condition pinned blue steel 4" and 6" Smith revolvers I've ever seen. All presented nicely under glass so you can't touch them with his close to outrageous prices right next to each one.
Since this is a kind of a fantasy whishin' and an a hopin' type thread I would be hitting that vendor up for something I don't already have like a Model 19 or Model 28.

Ruger revolver, either 22LR (what I would get because the ammo is cheap) or 38/357 Mag to expand your ammo pool. You could also go 9mm/357 Mag. I don't have a revolver.

Or do what the other person said and take the wife to London (sneak off to Bovington Tank Museum while she goes shopping for the day).

Or one of those long range shooting courses.

If it was me I'd get a S&W model 500, not much more fun can be had for the money.

Dad’s last duty sidearm was a 686 6”, exposed fp (not sure of the dash) and I did covet that something awful. He traded it for a Redhawk if I recall correctly then that for a GP100. A few years back I had a King Cobra but I don’t want to pay the admission rate again.

I know a few places online and local have shooter grade and better K frames around, I’ve got .38 & .357 dies already.

As for hunts/experiences, been on a few and enjoyed myself, have a few more already planned and funded including antelope with two of my daughters.

When it comes to ammo, I keep a minimum of 1,000 rounds for everything but the .380, -06s, and 6.5s. Those have a few hundred loaded rounds with components to load a few hundred more. Rimfire...close to 10k, shot up and rotated regularly. I definitely make hay when the sun shines.

I let a ratty S&W model 19 pass through my hands. Didn't quite double my money, but made the mistake of taking it to the range and remembering how those old guns just satisfied. Now I'm looking for one with a little better finish, but finding they are not so plentiful and new guns are hit-or-miss.

Another vote for ammunition. Buy it cheap and stack it deep. I try to keep 3-5 cases of each caliber on hand at all times. I wish I had the space for a reloading bench.

I really enjoy 1911’s. I really like 10mm. I have one in that caliber. It’s not a collector gun. Just a RIA TAC II. But it has lots of features higher end 10mm’s don’t, like a fully supported chamber, heavy match barrel, and adjustable trigger. Mine is quite accurate. So if it’s a handgun you want, that’s what I would suggest. But really, any handgun in your choices is a fine weapon.

If we were talking rifles, I don’t know what you currently have. I think everyone should own at least one M1-A and a Garand. Or a repro Sharps. Maybe even a nice old front stuffer. I’ve never seen anyone who didn’t enjoy shooting those 4 guns.

It all comes down to what interests you. Not us. I’m all over the place when it comes to firearms. I just like them all. In the last week I’ve bought a custom sporterized Krag that I showed off here: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/another-bucket-list-gun-pic-heavy.852057/ and a 24” heavy barrel 1/7 5.56 AR upper.
