Which MWNN style revolver do you like better? The 5-1/2" barreled SAA 45 Colt from Fistfull of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More or the 7-1/2" barreled 1851 conversion 38 Special from Good, Bad & Ugly?

Of course they have to have the inlaid snakes! Personally, I like the conversion model which seems much more interesting/fun albeit less practical. Obviously, this forum isn't for the practical.

IMO ..73's are a dime a dozen.....open tops.conversions are not. I'm the kind of guy that leans to the more unique.

I know what direction I'd go given the choices.

LOL......I've got 2, and they were a little over a that price mark. I guess I should have said....much easier to find.....or quite common. Phraseology was never my forte....:)

This open top started out it's life as one of a brace of 1860's I'd bought online.

I slicked this one's internals up to my liking.
Cut a loading port and reblued the port.
Added a 45 Colt kirst conversion cylinder and a ejection rod.
Added some casted rattlesnakes to the grips.
She costed a small fortune and I know I could outright buy one, But.... I enjoy the work and to me it was well worth the cost. She really shines with a 250 grain slug and 37-40 grains of 3F crammed into a 45 Colt!

The twin of this gun just got dressed up internally and added slixshot nips. I'm leaving her with her stock looks. She's also a fine shooter with roundball and with Conicals.

Nice but you really should carry it in a period holster.

it wouldnt look bad in a period correct holster. I have two civil war style holsters with the flaps that other chunks of metal currently reside in. i have quite a few triple k holsters of which a few of them have been put through hell and really hold up well for a cheap cabelas special

I've got to get a holster for mine but it will be something like one of these.

Hawg...lined or unlined? I'd be happy to do one for ya. Just let me know what color and what side you wanna carry it on.....and your favorite of those 3. I've got leather to do an unlined right now. I'd just consider it a trade for all the stuff you've helped me out with.

Thank You kind sir. Unlined is fine. I like the middle one best for it. The other two are more like what would have been used right after the war. Left side cross draw. With the ejector rod a regular navy holster wont work.

I wouldn't think a regular navy would work....just need to add a little for rod. Cross draw woulda been my guess. I can get close to that color too... I'll shoot you a PM when I get it started in the next day or two.

The “1851”, which is actually built on the Open Top cartridge frame. Not a conversion at all but pure fantasy.
