Poll: Need Help Choosing Compact 1911

Hi all. Thanks to everyone who answered my other posts as to the compact 1911's. So now im in a quandry - they all seem great. Unfortunately, they are all expensive, so I can only choose one. Which one? Thanks for taking the time to vote.

I am not a big fan of the small 1911's but I have shot the Colt & the SA. Both seemed to be nice guns but I just prefer guns w/ the pony on them so I voted on the Colt

Don't like any 1911 platform with barrels less than 5", however, considering SA warranty and dedication, I'd vote for them over the others...

And you might want to ponder some as why you need this pistol over the proven Gov't?

Judging from the spread of .45's you've listed, I am going to assume you've not had opportunity to shoot many of the pistols you've listed? There are some pretty wide variances in that list: The Kimber UC II, just for one example, weighs in at 25 oz. while the Daly is a full 10 oz. heavier. The Daly is a polymer/steel frame (hi-cap?) while the Kimber is an alloy-framed single-stack. I won't speak for anyone but myself but if I was to handle both of those, I know for certain I'd come away preferring one over the other, and most likely by no small margin.

Nothing, in my opinion, will help you decide faster than handling and/or shooting some of those. I think you'd come away with some pretty strong opinion's of your own.

I actually traded a heavily shot, 5" customized Colt Combat Elite for my (then) new, original run Kimber CDP Ultra.

I've never regretted it either. As nice as the Colt was, I like this little thing better!

I made the mistake of trading off a Para Ordnance 645 LDA. 6+1, 3-inch Bbl, bushingless barrel. Very accurate, concealable and a bit heavy. About 6-1/2 in long, real sweet Light Double Action trigger, drop safety, grip safety, slide safety.

I really like a Colt Defender that i shot a few years ago, but wouldn't mind any of the others either.

I have not shot any of these or other any other short barrel .45 1911 style pistol. I simply cannot find these available for rent. I am relying on you guys. I do appreciate the double vs. single stack comment. That pretty much eliminated the CD. You all ahve not disappointed me in the past with your advice. Thanks to all who are taking the time on this.

Then I'd easily narrow that list to either of the two Kimbers or the Springfield. I've shot many of both and would have a hard time deciding myself. The Kimbers I've shot had internal extractors, and while I myself have no opinion on Kimber's external extractor, many people do. The Springfield 1911-A1 that I own personally is hell-and-back reliable. I have no problems recommending Springfields. My experience with Kimbers is less, but shooting them has always been just as good an experience.

Since you did not specify 45 cal, I want to add the Para Hawg 9 with 12 +1 rounds of Gold Dot +P for short barrels.

If you want a small .45 I advise getting one that was designed to be small from the beginning.

Now back to the what compact .45ACP 1911 should I buy poll.....

Obviously if .45ACP is not needed there are some great little 1911 pattern guns out there.

I voted for the Springfield Armory MICRO-COMPACT. 45. I have one and have had no problems with it at all. If something goes wrong with it Springfield Armory will fix it for free forever. Can't beat that.
