Good evening,

I recently traded an older model Taurus model 94 for a brand new in the original box Polytech SKS. Although I think I got the better end of the deal, the thing that annoys the hell out of this rifle is the side sling mount on the buttstock. When firing, the thing wants to rip my Adam's apple off with each pull of the trigger. Although I may be going through a mid-life crisis, getting a sex change isn't anywhere on the horizon.

Short of swaping out or modifying the original stock, does anybody have any kind of ideas or suggestions to remedy this problem? I was recently given a Tapco T6 stock and an ATI Strikeforce folding stock. The Tapco I'm not crazy about because I have to remove the pistol grip to disassemble the rifle, and the ATI stock has no bayonet cutout.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciate. As always, thanks for your knowledge and wisdom.

I have never had that problem, but have one with side mount sling. I have personally never found an after market stock for an SKS that I liked. I am not sure what to tell you. Are you shooting with a sling attached? If not try with one on and the swivel movement will be reduced or eliminated if you hold/pull the sling tight. You could try one of the wide AK slings that only have the one attachment point (clips on up front) and threads through the back sling loop. That should soften up the rear swivel quite a bit.
