I have tried the adding a rail to the top cover approach and was not too happy. My cover was extremely hard to the point that I could not even get a hole started. Had to go to a gunsmith friend that has a huge drill press and even he said it was very hard. Anyway, after attaching a rail and riser there was just too much wiggle for my taste. Thought I would try something else (other than spending over $100 for a custom top cover) so this is what I came up with. It cost me a whopping $10. Before mounting the tri rail be sure your barrel is screwed in 100 percent tight. Mine has absolutely no wiggle at all. Then put on the tri rail mount and first lightly tighten the screws until you are sure everything is level, then tighten well. With the Burris scope I am using I can perfectly co witness the iron sight. Might not be the coolest looking setup but it works!

This pic is sideways...The red dot it right on top of the front sight.

No offense, but an Uzi scope mount?? Get real... An Uzi is a CQB weapon and a red dot like that one is not an ideal scope... The Uzi isn't really designed for or intended to be used with a scope...

You obviously are not familiar with very serious people that have red dot sights on their Uzi. So much for your 'expert opinion'.

Dude I'm just sayin' that it looks hideous. You presumably want feedback. I'm sorry my feedback is that I don't like it...

Look I'm not trying to argue with you, but if it was such an "in demand" item, then there would certainly be more choices than what you've rigged together... It's about a step above duct taping a flashlight to the barrel.

Off topic abit but to answer the point you raised, I have a semi-auto Uzi and have fired them full auto in the military. I like the platform. But it's far from the best CQB or other rifle or pistol available... so these 'very serious' people are probably not so serious...

While it's a great platform, there are dozens of far better. Hence why the SMG has largely been abandoned in favor of sub compact rifle platforms like the AR and AK... A good Uzi costs more than a comparable pistol or AR/AK platform, weighs more, and there's marginal advantage over say a G17 with 33 rd mags and significant disadvantage as compared to a rifle caliber...

Probably why nobody that is 'serious' has spent time or effort developing a red dot mount for an Uzi...

But it's your gun and you're free to do as you please. Kudos for the creativity at least. As long as you're pleased what difference does my opinion matter?

Why do you want or need a scope on an Uzi? You just spray them like a water hose until your target dies. :)

Dudes...just use google to search on uzi red dot and select images...you will see a whole bunch of uzi's with all kinds of sights. My $10 solution works, but it's obviously neither the best looking nor the most practical. But compare this to professional rigs that cost over $600 for a modified top cover plus Trjicon RMR sight. And where does it say CQB guns cannot have a sight on them? Silliest thing I ever heard. Just an example, the HK SMG
