every time porting barrels come sup is always those which decry it on carry guns...I have a 3 inch 686P with dual porting by magnaport...with a set of hogue grips I love the thing...the porting does help and makes shooting the thing not only more accurate in my hands, but just more plain fun.
I have a Gemini sp 101 in the works and will receive it with hybraporting and
expect it to be even better recoil reduction (although with more sharp noise)
than magnaporting.

I'd guess my 686p felt recoil and muzzle rise probably reduced around 20%...

anybody know what can expect with hybraporting on a snubby (my new sp101)? I've read as much as 70%, but that sounds wrong.

You can't cheat Mr. Newton;), all you can do is redirect the force of the recoil. The porting does reduce muzzle climb, which should make it easier to recover and reacquire for your next shot. I think I would still prefer to have my muzzle blast come out the front end. :)

Ive found angling the ports towards the muzzle to be a good compromise on recoil and noise on a snubby.

I have one .357 revolver that has an interchangeable muzzle brake. I do not use the brake because the gun has a weighted barrel and do not perceive any difference in recoil.

Also, I don't like the increased noise...especially when it "reflects"/reverberates under the metal overhang at our range.

redirection

redirecting energy is not a big deal..is done in most all mechanical equipment
in one way or another...redirecting some energy from the muzzle to the
ports seems a great idea to me...minimal effect on velocity...while permitting
more efficient shooting...the magnaporting I am familiar with increases noise
but not enough to be troublesome..I will learn about the hybraport and noise pretty soon with a new 357 (and I find the 357 pretty sharp in any setting)
with the sp101 hyraport when it arrives and advise if noise, flash present any significant obstacles to good shooting.

Hydraporting

Do you have a link to this or can you chow me some pictures? I have a new 101 that I might want to do this to. I looked at a thread on here that had a 101 with about 3 or 4 ports in the barrel but I can't find it again. Senior moment I guess.

If I felt like I had to have porting on a steel .357, I wouldn't admit it.:D

My 686 feels fine with some really hot loads. I just shoot it AFTER I put full-house loads through my .44 Mountain Gun, and the recoil of the 686 isn't at all bad...
