Hello everyone,

This summer I'm going to develop a whitetail load for my 7mm-08. I'd like to use 120 gr Barnes TTSX bullets over either Varget or IMR 8208 XBR. I was wondering if anyone has had luck with either of these combinations? I know Varget is very popular, but my understanding is that 8208 is a faster burning powder than Varget, so I'm curious if it would be better suited for the light bullets than Varget.

If you use these bullets with a different powder, feel free to chime in, but I'm primarily focused on these two due to the temp insensitivity.

Of course I know that my individual rifle will have its own "best" load, but at the price of these bullets I'd like to choose the powder that more people have luck with so I have a more informed hypothesis when I begin my experiment.

My daughters gun really like Varget with the 140 TTSXs. I thought about getting some 120s and working with them but the 140s shoot so well I elected just to stick with that.

There are many nice powders that work well with these light bullets...
BLC2
Varget
CFE
AA2520
Ramshot Big game
R15
R17
ARCOMP

Varget is hard to beat in popularity and impervious to temp changes but with CFE you wil be able to squeeze some extra fps possibly
one of the fastest you can get. Loaded hot this round hits like a 270.

It's not on the list, but MR2000 (Alliant) gives highest velocity with 120gr in 7mm08. Another is H380.
But since you have Varget, use it.
