I need to try 700x in the 45 Colt. Do not know why I have not thought of that. Thanks.

You will like it. Most of the super fast powders give too much unburned powder and scorch cases in 45 colt. I didnt have the problem with 700x at all. In fact, it was very clean in that cartridge, mild recoil, and accurate. It is position sensitive in that big of a case. Not a problem in 45acp, but in the 45 colt case you will see a decent difference in velocity powder forward or powder back, but it performs well either way.

HS-700X is an excellent powder and performs exceptioonally well with cast bullets in pistol loads. My bullseye pistol 25 yard load in 45ACP is 3.8 gr. HS-700X, Rem LP behind a 185 gr. LSWC for ca 710 fps - a very accurate and mild load.

You can also try tapping the powder measure several times between loads or strap an aquarium air pump to it as a vibrator.

Sorry you live so far away, I'd be willing to trade you several pounds for my Unique or Red Dot. Not that I really need 700-X, but I know it shoots well and can use it in my shotgun loads.

700X excellent in my lighter 45 colt loads. Burns clean to boot

800X Excellent in my heavy 45 colt loads and a favorite of Ken Waters as well in this caliber.

How would 800X work in 32 special? anybody got any experience there?
Doc.

I always shake my Dillon powder measure for about ten seconds before dropping the first powder. That seems to get the 700-X powder to a more consistent density. I then drop powder into 5 or 6 cases, weighing them as I adjust the powder drop. Once I get it set, it rarely varies.

I use 700-X in 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 38 Special and 44 Special. It is by far my favorite powder for low pressure handgun rounds.

700X was my first powder to load with. It works great in the .38 Special and .45 ACP. Meters like gravel in most hoppers, but it will shoot well all things considered. 800X IS EVEN BIGGER!!!!

I bought a pound (well, 14oz's) of it a while back. I've used it to load both 9mm and .40S&W. Hasn't done too bad except for terrible metering. For me its a good plinking and practice load but for USPSA shooting the power factor jumped around too much due to the inconsistent metering for me to trust using it at a major match. It is accurate and decently soft shooting though.

Going forward I wouldn't consider it a preferred powder, but in a pinch I certainly would pick it up if that's all that was available, and if I happened to receive any as a gift or anything I cetainly would have a use for it.
