Does anyone have any close up photos of Win 296?
not looking for guidance or lectures, just a photo. Google was just lectures

I don't have the ability to post photo content. But if you have any ball powders on hand, they pretty much all have the same visible characteristics. 296 / H110 are a dark fine grained ball powder, if that helps any.

Why are you interested in it's appearance? Have you maybe pulled some bullets and are trying to identify the powder in them? If so, visible characteristics can be very unreliable, unless it's one of the Blue, Green, or Red Dot powders.

If you've ever seen W335, it looks nearly identical, only it's just a hair finer. I know that's not a picture. But I hope it's at least not a lecture. :)

No lectures here. It looks like your run of the mill flattened ball powder, hope you weren't expecting something more.

Thanks guys, esp Nw city. I came up with an idea while reading posts. I have got out the camera, so I will proceed with plan. It looks as thou the powder that I have is pure 296. I had my doubts. Does this look good? I am seeing a fine black ball which is most of sample. I also see a flattened grey round flake that is shiny, like W231, as well as some large flattened black flake that looks like Unique.

What you have there looks to me like a mix of powders that's not good for anything but scattering on the lawn or pouring out in a line on the driveway and lighting.

I am thinking the same thing, Sport. I hope others will respond with the same thought that I have that the large black flakes don't belong.

It's fertilizer. Even if you sifted out the flakes, you do not know if there is more than one type of fine ball powder there.

I am not thinking of sifting..........until now
I have no lawn nor inclination to sift anything ;)

So I have a definitely mixed powder?

what you have is dangerous if you try to use it to make bullets.
you don't say how it came to be that way or how much there is...

but all of it needs to be tossed for safety's sake

It sure looks like it to me. I have an empty propellant can with label removed that I have marked "FOR THE LAWN" that I save throughout the winter months and put on the lawn in warmer weather. Did you get a partial can somewhere?? That could be a problem and why when getting opened canisters if anything is odd I will just spread it on the lawn. IIRC years ago they would make duplex propellants but only had a mix of two types in the container. In your sample I see at least 4 types so that equals do not use to me.

I will explain how this came to be. A guy who I used to speak to, gave it to me. This clown had me working and couldn't/ wouldn't pay. I did get something valuable, when I started. Good thing I stayed on top of things or I would have gotten more ripped off. So just before I walked out, I get a few things. The day before, the guy says he has stuff including some powder that he says is fresh and just bought. When I left, I remembered this statement and opened the can and was not surprised to see it half empty. This was a year ago and never used it. Watch out, the guy sells stuff online.

I make it a policy to not use any gift powders or something I did not buy from the store unopened and still stored in the original container in my cool dry place. Just not worth it. My face is too pretty and by guns too valuable to me.

Ditch that powder. It looks mixed for sure.
You said he sells online, Wanna give us the name?
That way others will not end up with such things and others can prevent mishaps to themselfs and their valuables.

( Im sorry if you found it offensive, In no way did I mean it that way!)

I probably shouldnt give the ebay name because he may have just been sloppy with the powder, but I doubt it. I do regret casting any doubts on other sellers from Ct. It appears that customers are fairly safe, just friends and companys and banks that are at risk.

It's hard to tell for sure, but your powder looks an awful lot like floor sweepings. If you poke around, maybe you can find some hair, lint, or carpet fibers. :)

You can clearly see the bigger flakes resting on top of the finer ball powder, completely separated. If this were a real duplex powder, I suppose it would have a label on the bottle that reads "Shake well before use." :)
