I just checked powder prices and found the increases have already started to take effect. 5744 was 51.00 USD about a week ago and today I found it on Powder Valley for 71.00 USD. I am glad I made my purchase of needed backup powders before the 15th. I'm set for a two year period of heavy use. The inflation is much higher than anyone predicted when discussing this just a month ago. Seems like greed is playing some sort of role here.

No, its supply and demand. Lots of shooting going on around the world and modern warfare uses a lot of ammo. Even if the powder you are buying has no military use, its availability is affected by a factory's capacity to produce powder. They may be running full speed to supply NATO rounds. Alliant powder seems to be affected the most. It shows up on the shelf, then is gone for months before it reappears for a short time. Their prices have skyrocketed. Hogdon, Winchester, and IMR not so much.

Yeah, I saw the memo on the Powder Valley web site several days ago and ordered some 4350 before it went up. I also noticed that Midway didn't wait for the 15th to get here!
