powder storage

A GLAD food container with a snap-on lid works well.

Or even better, a new qt. metal paint can from a paint store.

Regardless of what you use, be sure and label it clearly as to the powder type, lot number, and date.

My first question would be: What happened to the original container? Of course, I've learned not to ask questions like that. ((:)D)))

Eventually, you will end up with empty 1lb keg containers from other powders. Now, I've never had to do this, and it is always recommended to never do this, and I certainly agree with all that, but in a pinch (seeing as how the original container "disappeared"), an old, empt powder keg would work fine, appropriately marked and dated.

in addition to external labeling, I like to add a little scrap of paper with the same information inside the Glad or Ziplok container. I'd rather have too many labels and get it right, than too few and get it wrong...

While I have thrown out many powder containers, I always keep a couple of extra empty one pound powder containers around. Sometimes they come in handy. And yes, label it clearly.

Walkalong has the best way to store powder. That has been my method for years. Make sure you remove the old label and re label it with the powder you are going to store.

I always keep about 10 empty one pound containers on hand to put misc lots of propellant in. Sometimes it is for letting a fellow reloader try some of a different propellant and I only have an 8 pound container and don't want to loose the whole thing.:D Or to store spilled/pulled propellant until I can dispose of it. Just remember to LABEL IT WELL.
