So I've got several lbs of powder that I'm thinking of listing in the BST forum but unsure about what would be considered fair.
I'm not looking to make a profit but at the same time I don't want to give it away either.
I guess it really depends on the powder and it's current availability.
2400
H322
CFE223

Would asking say 15% lower than Powder Valleys listed price seem fair? 25%?
If most agree that my pricing might be to high thats ok. I want to know that.

Please don't PM me with offers or "I'll take it". They'll go ignored. I just want to get a general consensus before I post.

Are willing/able to ship? Powder and primers are expensive for regular citizens to ship. Make sure you factor that in.
I am an avid forum shopper and unless I'm specifically looking for/ needing something, I'm looking for at least 25%, preferably 35+.
Obviously, I am looking for great deals. One can usually get 10-20% discounts just by waiting for a sale.
There are so many factors that play into it that putting a % on it is kind of hard.

Edit: When I said at least 25% preferable 35+, I'm talking off the best current retail price I can find at the time.

No. This would be a face to face local transaction only. Thought I added that but think it got deleted during an edit.

FTF in todays market, I'd say AJC1 is pretty close to what you can expect. At least in my neck of the woods.

Edit: Looks like we could possibly be in the same neck of the woods. ;);)

My sell price would be a subjective amount I’d be satisfied with. That simple.

Only if I bought at current prices would they at all factor in to my asking price. And even then probably not. (Especially since I’m not in the powder selling business.)

Simply put, when I get rid of stuff it’s to get rid of it.

PV prices are pretty good but there's always Shipping and Hazmat added on.
For private sale, a tad under PV price (with no S & H / Hazmat) is about what it's worth to me.

If I need a certain powder I'd paid market value.

If buying extra powder that i want to stock up on i look for around a 25% savings on local pick up.
Back when you couldn't find any powder guys st the local gun shows were charging 50% more for the powder and sometimes more.
Back then they were charging $200 a thousand for large rifle primers And $250 for small rifle primers at the gun shows.
Look at today's primers. New primers are selling from $60 to $90 a thousand.
Private sales are going from $100 to $125 a thousand.
It's all supply and demand.
When I sell items I list it and if no interest I will lower the price.
You can always lower prices, it's hard to raise the price once posted.

For the hard to find powders like 2400 your likely to get full market value if it's new stock. The other two I'd say 30 bucks.

Is 2400 that hard to find these days? I haven't loaded it in years and probably have 20 lbs stashed away.

Thank you all. Your comments confirm that my price would be fair if listed in the $25-30/lb range for current production/unopened powders in a FTF meetup.
Akula69 thanks for the date of manufacture suggestion. If I decide to offer in the BST I'll include a pic of the date.

If I do decide to sell it won't be until after this weekend.
I've got 2 8lb containers that I opened & tried for new loads but only used a few oz's from. Waiting on a new postage scale so I can accurately weigh & get a picture of. This info will be fully disclosed up front & prices will reflect.

Walkalong. You may close this thread, unless someone else has something to add.
This post is in part because of your recent powder issue in another thread. It made me look at my current inventory, average my yearly shots fired and I came to the conclusion that I've got decades worth of components. (whoa is me/humble brag/first world problems lol)
Anyways I figure I'll offload a few powders that I either no longer use or bought to test & have no plans to revisit before some day long in the future I discover them swollen or rancid.

I don't mind paying a dollar or so extra to be able to buy from a local shop or FTF because I hate paying the extra shipping & hazmat fees when I order on my own. I normally get a pound of powder around here for $30 to $40. There is one local shop charging $70 a pound, I know some powders are hard to find but that's just too much.

Just another suggestion, if you sell face to face consider your personal security. There has been some bad stuff reported from face book market place and Craigslist. Go armed, meet in a public place and maybe take a buddy. Good Luck with your sales.
