Looking for info/procedure on how to convert a PPs-43 semi-auto pistol with the welded stock into an SBR. I'm interested in doing this conversion, but I'm not going to be able to figure it out on my own. I've been thinking about buying one of these pistols to do the conversion, but not if I can't figure out how to SBR it.

Google has failed me.

TIA.

1.- Fill out and file Form 1 paperwork (a Class 3 FFL can assist you)
2.- Wait.
3.- Wait.
4.- Wait some more.
5.- Open the mail and nearly have a heart attack because your paperwork came in
6.- Cut welds, replace welded folding stock with functioning folding stock
7.- Feel cool because you have something SWEET.
8.- Go to the range and punch holes in paper ;)

I would definitely not try to cut the welds and try to fix the stock that is on it now. They are fixed in a way to make that difficult to do, for obvious reasons, and you may destroy needed parts.

Consider buying a parts kit with the needed parts while you can find them cheap, and not doing any modifications on the current gun until the paperwork clears. Would hate to see you get the paperwork in, then not be able to find the parts you need.

Also consider shortening the barrel as part of the SBR process.

I thought of doing this back when 7.62x25 surplus ammo was still cheap and plentiful, but reading the reviews of the PPS-43 pistols I decided not to. Now that the cheap 7.62x25 surplus ammo seems to have dried up, IMHO you'd be better off doing an AR SBR and getting a 9mm pistol upper.

If you are totally in love with the 7.62x25 CNC Machine makes a 7.62x25 AR upper that uses modified PPS-43 mags in both carbine and pistol configurations.
