I've finally settled on purchasing a stock Sabre Defense AR-15 and placing a 1.5-6x42 Nikon telescopic sight with LaRue mounts for optimal use of rail space and the versatily of a variable power platform.

Once I've built my intended DMR and gotten it zeroed and broken in what are some practical training courses I can undergo in order to be proficient and confident with using the weapon?

I'm not planning on going into any 3-Gun championships, at most I intend to use the rifle in local competitions to get my confidence up. However I'd like to still undergo practical training with my intended weapon. Can anyone advise?

I did a 4 day rifle class at Front Sight in Pharumph, NV. Class was a good mix of classroom and range time. Prices seem high but they have sales that drop the cost down to more reasonable levels.

I shoot our local 'Practical Rifle' match. Very good way to learn by doing and by watching, see what works and what doesn't. If you're ever in the PDX area on the 2nd Saturday of the month, come on out.

You can pics of previous matches here: http://www.kodakgallery.com/practicalrifle

We shoot in an active rock quarry so the terrain is always changing. BSW

Sounds like a good idea, if I'm ever out by there.

The first thing I plan to do is obviously purchase the rifle, zero the sights and mount and zero the telescopic sights then be deadon accurate as possible at fixed (100-300 meter distances) and then once I've gotten the rifle broken in and zeroed I'll start looking around for training opportunities.

I definitely will consider the Front Sight program.
