I picked up a Pre World War II BerettA 1934 (418) …. I think…. Serial number is 601,XXX which doesn’t match the the Wikipedia smS/Ns for the 1934 Model. The slide hay 1919 omits it could be a transition pies. Condition is good with 2 Mags. Comments?

Thanks
Jim

Some photos would help understanding. There is some confusion in the information.
Is it this one?
BERE-02756C-DIC23-1-580x580.jpg

Or this one?
BERETTA-1942-1.jpg

The Beretta 418 was previously marked as "Brev.1919" (brevet 1919).

I have a nickle plated 1934 in 9mm kurz.
I saw it and had to buy it. I will try to get a better picture and post it.

The writings cannot be read. Exactly what is written on the left side? What is the year indicated at the end of the writing? 1919? Is the year preceded by the word "Brev."?

Yes, the 1919 is preceded by “Brev”

I will try to get a better picture.

Thanks

So it is a Beretta Brev.1919 or in an extended manner Brevetto 1919 (patent 1919). Are there other marks present, such as a roman numeral or the italian proof marks of the National Proof Bench? It was later known as the Beretta 418 but to me this is still a Beretta Brev.1919, perhaps built between 1931 and 1934.

The 418 is small and, especially, flat. Bond's gun had its grips off, and tape wrapped around the frame. It is cool to see later Beretta design cues on such a small gun. In limited shooting, mine has run 100%.
