Prediction on new blued Python

IMHO, bluing has been black for a long time. Hasn't really been "blue" since WWII. Colt still puts "Royal Blue" on the SAA and has never stopped. They're no different from the one above from 30yrs ago. Same for this 1yr old Standard. I think the biggest contributing factor is the market. Most revolver buyers want dishwasher safe stainless steel with rubber grips and that is a hell of a shame.

Have you tried Dishwasher Safe Gun! Flitz & 800grit sand paper will get it back to NEW!

Don’t get me wrong, you know I love the Blue!

Which may not be fair, not with CZ USA now running things.

Now, Royal Blue is a unique thing. It's a hugely labor-intensive process that is not frugal in its materials use. Neither much recommends it for modern gun production.

If there's something that surprises me, it's that no one is using "Black Chrome" on production firearms. (Or if they are, I've missed it.)
I saw a Desert Eagle in black chrome. Looked like black liquid......stunning.

I'd take a new stainless Python in a heartbeat.........if the trigger in profile looked like the old ones.
Stronger, and stainless..........yup.
And I'd put Hogue rubber grips on it.
Wish they did a medallion version with both sides scalloped (like old Smith medallion rubber Hogues used to be).

I do think a blued 6" Python to be the best looker.
Didn't care for the shorter or longer, pops had a few of each.

The bright stainless looked better than the "regular" subdued stainless IMHO.
Didn't care for the tint of the old school nickel tuff.

Not me. The older factory Python grips are some of the most comfortable I've ever handled, including my customs. Way beyond Hogues. I'd put a set of Keith Browns on it and call it a day.

Never liked Python wood grips.
Pachmayr presentation in either size was no go.
Hogue rubber works for me

Royal Blue, Bright Blue, Bright DLC, Pedersoli Satin Blue… just let me see something that don’t Glow in the Dark during the Zombie Apocalypse
Rick Grimes did not have any problems...

But I do seem to recall one of the Colt honchos getting questioned, not long after the release of the 2020 Python, about the possibility of a blued "new" Python, and he did not immediately dismiss it out of hand. Kinda like the Colt guys' reactions after the release of the 2017 "New Cobra" when they were asked if this meant Colt was considering reproducing the Python ever again...

Perhaps there's hope.

I keep hearing this… what chemical is that dangerous? we talking Uranium? I think the main reason is lack of training (polishers)
This seems a frequent story in other circumstances. Tried to buy deck stain recently? The new stuff is paint, and water based at that. Rumor was that the Feds feared that leftover stain was ending up in fresh water.
Do have a 25-15 Smith that has decent blue and polish.
Mark, you're certainly right that polishing requires training; doing it is expensive in time and skilled personnel. We've all seen reblue jobs with rounded edges but lotsa shine.
The eternal problem; old stuff is always better than new stuff, or at least so we see it. :)

Did Colt do Royal Blue to most there blued SAA? I have 2 from the 60’s, they are commemoratives but still Colt. Wonder if that’s a example of “real Royal Blue” ?
