I just recently purchased a SA XD-9 9mm for both shooting range fun and home defence. My girlfriend and I both liked the gun a lot for its ergonomics, ample safety features and over-all sexiness. What I would like to know is about a certain type of ammo for this gun.

The brand of ammo is called Aguila, some of you may be familiar with it. The bullet is a 9mm +P fragmenting bullet for personal/ home defense. I want the fragmenting bullet because I live in an appartment complex and I'd rather have a bullet that won't penetrate a 2x4 rather than blast through walls and kill my neighbors. I've heard some guns can't handle the +P aspect and simply explode when fired, H&K to be exact. Has anyone ever fired Aguila bullets out of the new XD-9, or out of any gun with any types of trouble?

Hello.

From what ive seen, the Aguila frangibles are pretty inconsistant in their performance.

I would look out for frangibles made by Magsafe or Glaser. Both are very good IMO. However, the problem with these kinds of ammo is reliabilty. It is always a good idea to run a minimum of 50 rounds through your gun to ensure reliabilty, but the cost of frangibles can prevent this.

For a low penitration round, Corbons 90 grain +p is really nice.

Also, +P ammo is perfectly fine in your gun.

Congrats on your purchase!
