President says he favors AWB in debate

THAT WAS QUICK!

Romney corrected him sort of. Then made his own error, "automatic weapons are already illegal" (paraphrased).

And there you have it President Obama wants another "Assault Weapons Ban"

Just saw it 16 October 2012, at approximately 2218 hrs, during the third presidential debates -

In answer to a question about keeping “Assault Weapons” off the streets.

President Obama responded; “Part of it is seeing if we can get an Assault Weapons Ban re-introduced”

Romney just said he would support such a thing in a bi-partisan way as he was able to do in his state.

Both candidates favor an AWB.

He also referred to them as automatic weapons, then Romney said automatic weapons were already illegal.

Ha, rolled my eyes at both of those with a big facepalm after Romneys comment... :barf:

A write-in for "Mulligan" is really sounding appealing...

Clearly neither one knows a darn thing about what they are talking about, about current gun legislation or even what types of guns are what, and neither one should be trusted. Wish I could vote for Ron Paul.

The details is the problem. There are laws today that can be improved that both the "anti-gun" and the "pro-gun" will agree on the change. One example is to stop operations like the ATF/FBI giving guns to criminals. I personally think that the second ammendment should be thought of as a duty (as well as a right). ATF should be working to make the purchase of guns (all types) easier for qualified owners.

They both REALLY tried to avoid actually talking about guns or gun legislation, though.
But is it really news that either of them is pro-gun restriction? No-we've known this forever. The answer is in the lesser of two evils :D Romney WON'T push any more gun laws because of his party and his backing.

I have no comment that will be in line with THR policies, other than to state that I expect some sites to be upping prices as we speak.

It seems both were trying to avoid the subject. But Romney should have brought up the fact the AWB of the Clinton era did nothing to reduce crime, hence why his position was changed on the issue. Overall I felt it was a missed opportunity by Romney.

Yeah, the cat's outta the bag now. Of course, most suspected (correctly) that Obama favored the reinstatement of the AWB- now we have it from his mouth to our ears.

Romney has no idea what firearms means to us. If you research the single point of contention with Romney and gun control, you will find that it is as simple as the antis and pros agreed to disagree and the result is the antis won and the pros won. And Romney signed off. It had to do with the use of certain firearms and hunting and the banning certain weapons.
Romney knows that the gun vote is very important no matter what his beliefs may be.

Geez. Who thought any different?

Same old bull ka-ka from this guy. I just looked at the speech in the rose garden as well, and he mention "act of terror" in a general sense. Not specifically calling this Libya attacks as "terror attacks"
