Greetings All-

I know its way too early to tell, but just suppose that Sen. John McCain
and Sen. Hillary-Billary Clinton are the choices for the 2008 presidential
campaign, our gun rights may be in jeopardy? So why wait, better stock
up on handguns and assault rifles in particular. I encourage each of
you to puchase at least two handguns this year, and every year there
after leading up to the 2008 election. As you know, President Bush can't
run again so support of the 2nd Amendment rights is needed now! Lets
show 'em that we are UNITED, and where we stand. :D

There is ZERO chance of her getting elected. So much so that I hope to hell she gets the Democraptic nomination.

But, I'll buy the guns, anyway. :)

well, I'm trying to buy a 1911 this year, but I don't know if I can do that as I'll probably be in dental school for the next 4 years.

I really doubt that Clinton will be elected. Not even most Democrats like her and it'd take a ton of "moderation" on her part for anyone to believe that she's not a quasi-socialist. Asside from her policies, a lot of people just can't stand her. It might as well be Rosie O'donnell running.

Speaking as one who studies politics for a living, I would say that its way to early to even make a guess. A lot of things can change in four years. Certainly various political figures are trying to position themselves for nomination, but most of the talk I hear is from the news media that is just bored and looking for something to talk about. I would not start worrying until much much later.

Well, I picked up a CZ 75BD and a S&W22A in the last 30 days so I am good for this year. I need to get a reloading setup going so that will take my gun money for the next many moons. After I have the reloading set up I will need to purchase an "evil black rifle" of some sort as I do not own one yet. :(

If only I had more cash ;)

Billary in '08 = Nightmares??

Even if she managed to overcome her big negatives and hornswoggle enough For-The-Children Soccer Moms in a few "red" states that marginally went Republican in '04, I'm not convinced she'd be able to do much as President... IF...

IF we INCREASE the pro-gun pols in the House and the Senate.

That means a lot more hard blocking-and-tackling in the political campaign trenches... and realizing we're in a perpetual Culture War without end. It also means serving notice to your "RINO" senators (if you're unlucky enough to have one of these smiling chameleons) that the Gun Vote in your state is growing and ain't gonna take their 2A backsliding anymore.

Hillary -- or McCain -- would have crippling nightmares (as Pres.) with a House and Senate with even greater GOP majorities than the present ones. In fact, one of the most discouraging challenges we could throw at her/him would be to make sure the 2006 (Yes, '06!) elections actually INCREASE the Republican advantages in Congress! Conversely, any GOP losses in '06 will embolden her/him... and their screaming-leftist/anti-2a supporters.

The Moral: let's focus on the '06 "mid-term" elections. That's the crucial, stage-setting prologue for '08. With a few more Pro-2A gains in both houses, it'll assure the AsltWeps-Ban stays dead, get more conservative/Pro-2a judges appointed by Bush in his last 2 yrs., and (most of all), it'll demoralize the Libs and make their political fund-raising more difficult.... especially with the media/entertainment wing of the Dems (i.e., Dan Blather and Michael Moore, et al) losing their mojo.

Hillary 2008?

I would not worry about Hillary getting elected in 2008. Of far more concern if she is nominated would be the only alternative fronted by the oligarchs to "oppose her". ;)

TonkinTwentyMil is spot on, the real power resides in the Senate and the House. The President can scream ban guns all he or she wants, but if Congress says no, then the answer is no. Hillary is certainly positioning herself for a run, so is John Kerry. Another runner might be Virginia's current governor, Mark Warner. He has been pretty good, a fiscal conservative and has not tried to ban guns in Virginia.

On the Republican side it may come down to McCain or Frist. I still don't see another Ronald Reagan anywhere.

To everyone who says Hillary won't get elected, let someone who worked on Rick Lazio's campaign tell you that you should never say never...

I wonder if having a female president will lessen US influence in countries which are oppressive to women, like most of the middle east.

More importantly than buying guns, we should be getting involved in the primary campaigns of BOTH parties to insure that we have someone running who represents our interests. No candidate makes it through to run for any election without surviving the primaries first.

The primary elections are very important. Everybody who complained about not liking either candidate last election? The primaries are your chance to see a better candidate put forward. Once the candidates have been selected for the major parties, political reality will start narrowing our options very rapidly.

Right now we have several years to identify and promote the candidates we think would serve us well as President. We should make the most of this time to do that rather than assume we are already going to lose in both parties and start hoarding.

Like I need another excuse to buy more guns.

But if McCain runs against Clinton... hooo, boy, I think I might have to vote for Ross Perot. :neener:

[standing wolf]America will never vote for that Clinton creature.[/standing wolf]

When Bush and his Oil Buddies raise the price of crude to $100 a barrel, and people are paying $5 for a gallon of gas, with a home heating bill of $1,000 per month .......... Hillary and the Democrats will be a shoe-in - President, House and Senate.

I thought we invaded Iraq for oil. Where's my cheap gas.

haha tinfoil can be fun! :)

I'd vote for him. A lot of good gun laws have been passed during his tenure. I don't know his exact standing on the issue, but he seems to be less liberal about it than most.

Nico - you will probably be paying $3 per gallon by the end of this year. But then, $3 per gallon is cheaper than the $5 per gallon in 2007.

OPEC meets next week. Will be interesting to see what pricing (profits) they (Bush & Co.) set.
