My data came from the Lyman manual.

Lyman 48, 30-06 150gr bullet:

Velocity at Max loads range from a low of 2869fps and a high of 3012fps. What Lyman manual are you using?

DOH!

I need to find a different (safer) hobby. I read from the wrong column. I flipped the book open, found the velocity column, and noted the highest velocity. Apparently I was reading the starting velocities.

Ironically I had a nightmare last night that I had one class left to take to get my engineering degree and I failed the final and got kicked out of the curriculum. Then I get humbled by this early in the morning. It's going to be a long week.

Not to worry, I do think you are correct in not shooting these in your Garand, but I see no problem shooting them a different rifle.
