My range is in my backyard so i don't have to drive to get there. Still, my shooting has been mediocre this winter. Yesterday a buddy came over to practice with me.

My draw times magically fell from 2.00-2.40 seconds to 1.69 to 1.98 seconds. All shots in the circle on standard IDPA target at 12 yards. His times were not all that far behind mine, most 2.00 to 2.49 seconds.

Next we tried one hand shooting, both strong and weak side. At 7 yards I kept all my hits in the head. He dropped a few but not many.

He suggested we back off to 50 yards and shoot a group. Person who shoots largest group buys beer. It's been a long, long time since I shot at 50 yards so I asked for one practice group before shooting for the bet. He agreed.

My first group is perfect vertically but sucked horizontally. His was also nothing to brag about. Virtually a 12 inch pattern. Then we shot for beer. My group (eight rounds) was less than 4 inches. Four of the shots were touching each other. His group had improved to just over six inches.

I still have a few of the beers in the refrigerator.

He's coming back Saturday or Sunday. He'll probably clean my clock. It was just one of those great days.

I'm just trying to imagine the number of range reports that we would get out of SkunkabiRRy if he had a range in his backyard.

Tactical fences, anyone??

Two words.

Burt Gummer.

Actually what I would do is live in an aircraft hangar, and have reconfigurable walls, get some junk furniture from the Salvation Army and have a killhouse type of setup. I'd have a tiny little 600 sqft corner for living, and the rest of it would be an indoor range.

I'd rent it out to local LE agencies and hold matches there to pay for the place.

Pick up their brass and load my own. And pay for the place.

Get their leftover pizza from training day.

SELF SUFFICIENT HOME ON THE RANGE!!!!

Skunk's LEOs have more money than mine!

First, ours couldn't afford to pay for training space. About the second or third day of the fiscal year they've already fired their alloted 50 rounds of training ammo.

They generally show up here and bum ammo. Then they hang around to visit until suppertime and look pitiful until we invite them to eat.

I couldn't afford Skunk's dream set up.:what:
