I guess we are lucky in the St. Louis area. Examples:

• Jay Henges Rifle Range
• Busch Wildlife Area Rife Range
Both very professionally operated and maintained by the Missouri Dept of Conservation. They provide ear protection, eye protection, and targets. They also have clay bird facilities.
Rifle and Pistol Ranges: 20 position, covered, target holders at 7, 15, 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards.
Cost: $3 per hour per booth (not per person) No annual fee.

• Bench Rest Rifle Club of St. Louis, in Wright City.
One range with 60 postions, 100 through 600 yards. Other ranges with 20 postions for rifle and pistol, others just for pistol up to 50 yards. Also a nice claybird facility.
Cost: $150 per year, shoot 365 days at no extra cost.

Gun Range price

I shoot various revolvers, pistols, and rifles at a rural range in Colorado. This range also has voice actuated trap houses that allow the use of several shotguns.
Cost is $40 a year membership. $3.00 per round of trap. $3.00 unlimited day use of the pistol and rifle ranges.
Other days I shoot in one of the many National Forrests legally for free.

Shooter's Choice -- Wilmington, NC

Membership was $150 for a year but they had a buy one, get one special so I only paid $75.

25 yd. Indoor pistol range only, but it's one of the nicest I've ever seen. No range fee for members, $8 per guest, no time limits. (Normal price is $15 for the first person on a lane, $8 for each additional.)

Pretty much any time you go in there's a good group of guys to stand around and shoot the breeze with.

The local indoor range charges $12/hr or $8/half hour. I quit going there long ago unless I absolutely have to test something out and it's pouring down rain or I'm in a hurry.

I'm a member at MCRC. Student memberships are $50/yr, no other fees at all. I could shoot all day every day and it would still only cost me $50/yr. After I graduate next semester I'll pay the normal fee of $100/yr. The facility is nice, here's a diagram. There is also a free range at Indian Creek about 40 minutes away. It's a state run range.
