So my bro-in-law needs money really bad and really quick. He has a Colt Trooper that was passed down to him that he was going to sell. I immediately called to stop him as I knew he would regret it someday. I offered to buy it with the option for him to buy it back when he can - same price. So basically its a loan with a nice revolver as collateral.

Does anyone know what a fair price would be? The gun is in 90-95% condition with original wood grips. I see them on gunbroker for $500-700 but I find gb isnt always a good place to judge the market value on a firearm. Im not looking for what a pawn shop would give him but perhaps what you may see it go for at a gunshow. Thanks in advance.

$450 to $550 is fair IMHO.

I just picked a like 4" Mk III up off GB for $531. I paid $405 for the last 4" one that is in great shape, but not like new. I have paid between $405 and $531 for 4 of them now. (plus $20 to $25 shipping and $20 to my FFL). I love them. (One was for my son, who likes them as well. He is tickled.)

I do see them advertised on GB for way more, but they don't usually sell. I have seen nice ones sell from $450 down to slightly under $400 as well.

Great guns for the money IMHO.

Thanks Walkalong. Thats what I was looking for. I really like these Troopers, and they are priced right for me unlike the Pythons that I drool over from time to time. Chance are when he buys his back I will be replacing it with my own!
