Was at a flea market today and one of the vendors had a used stainless Rossi 5 shot .38Spl for sale. It basically looked like a 3" S&W Chief Spl., and appeared to be in decent shape. The hammer was blued, not sure if this is stock.

He was looking for $275 for it, which seemed a little high to me for an off brand used revolver with unknown (to me) parts availability. So, what say you revolver gurus: decent price or over priced?

I don't consider Rossi to be an "off-brand", just more of a lesser-established one. They're certainly not Smiths or even Rugers, but most examples are decent performers.

For a stainless 3-incher, that price would have been acceptable as a negotiating-start point around here, provided the gun was in good condition with tight fit and lockup. Even if that ended up being the final sale price, no one would have really been hosed.

It's high, but 3" generally demands a premium.

4" in SS It's about a $200 gun, so if he's willing to deal a little it's not too far off.

I had a Rossi Model 88 years ago and it was a great little J frame-like revolver. All stainless, 3" barrel, and a somewhat rudimentary rear sight it was the perfect take along kit gun when I wanted something more than a .22. If the gun is in decent shape and checks out okay mechanically I think $225 to $250 would be a decent price range for it.

Handy site.....

I like GunsAmerica.com.
It's free & you can research prices or compare features.
I've purchased a few great handguns with it too. :)
