A local shop has a pair of S&W Model 34 revolvers in .22LR. They had 4" barrels.

They are priced at $325 each.

I took a quick glance at one of the two today and it looked pretty good. I didn't have time to look at the other. As far as I know, there are no boxes or papers with either gun.

How's that pricing? Should I try to grab the nicer of the two?

Well, I don't know what they are worth officially, but if I wanted one (and I kind of do, but with a 2" barrel) I would probably go for it. My 642 cost $329 several years ago. I haven't seen one for under $400 for a while now. So new Jframes are a bit more expensive than what you are looking at there, for a gun that isn't in production anymore.

I'd probably do it.

I'm seeing reasonable condition (80-90%), shooter grade Kit Guns go for $375 around here, $325 seem like a very good price to me.

If in decent shape a rather good price. I'd maybe even try doing a package deal on both.

That is a good price if they are in good shape. I'd try to do a package deal too. The longer barrel is a bit more uncommon I think. These are very handy little .22 revolvers sized like an H&R but made to S&W standards.

Here's my Model 34-1. I gave $300 for it two years ago. Here's a Range Report.

That is a very christian price. Go for it. Actually, the 4" barrel is much more common than the two inch. And, having owned both, I think 4" is much more desirable. The M-34 is one of the better .22's ever offered by any company.

I haven't seen many lately. If they are in sound mechanical condition and reasonably good in terms of finish wear, that is a good price. I'd like to get one, but it is a low priority. I'll more than likely buy one at a show one of these days even though it is a lower priority purchase item for me. I tend to buy what I see and not shop internet auctions.

I also believe the 4" is more common, but I'm no expert.

I usually see a few more 4" ones in my travels. I used to have a 4" stainless version, the model 63, it was excellent.

I would love to find a S&W .22 revolver. I don't see many S&W revolvers in good shape around here, much less the ones I want, and rarely are they priced fairly. For that price I'd jump on it.

XavierBreath, you must be taking all the S&W revolvers in Louisiana. Leave some for the rest of us. ;)

I have a factory nickel, square butt, 2" S&W model 34-1 in 'bout 98%+
condition that I purchased from an individual just about 2 years ago
for $350; without box or docs. Its a pinned barrel model, with a SN
of M202xxx that dates back to 1982. I don't shoot this gun, as it is
a rare find in my area in this condition~! ;) :D

34-1

I just found a model 34-1, 4 inch barrel, in pretty used shape with after market grips for $200.00. The oustide has seen better days but the barrel and inside the cylinder look pretty good. It may look better once I clean it up but right now it is filthy-dirty. Its on layway right now but I will bring it home with in the week. What is the going prices from poor on up to excellent? Can someone tell me when mine was made? M911XX it is pinned and I think recessed.

That's a good, not a great price. $350 is pretty typical around here for a 34 in decent shape. Unless it's a flat latch or 4 screw.

I buy them both for that price if they are in decent shape

I missed out. When I got back to the shop both were gone.

It looks like there's someone else keeping an eye out at the local GM for nice older revolvers. This is the second time this has happened. Normally the used guns there don't turn over so quick.

Just as well. But, the next good deal there will be mine...
