Hello all, I just noticed the Bass Pro Shops has this rifle Savage 93R17-FV
On sale for $159.88 and with my 10% military discount, I could walk out of there for pretty cheap, I think. So what are y'alls opinions of this rifle at that price, I welcome all comments. Oh and scope reccomendations would be appreciated as well.

Buy it! At that price you can't afford not to. The Savage 17HMR are great shooting rifles after you do a little trigger work. A 3-9x40 is always a good choice for a hunting scope or if your into more bench use a higher power is the way to go.

Darn, I was hoping you guys might talk me out of it, but it seems like I might just have to go ahead and buy the darned thing. Any others want to put in their .02?

I bought one at Bass Pro also. Synthetic stock, heavy barrel. Same price. Trigger was atrocious, the worst I've ever had, so I put in a Rifle Basix. Now it shoots great - in fact, I made my longest ever kill on a crow just today. However, the cost of the new trigger means it wasn't such a steal. I put a Tasco World Class 4-16x40 AO on it that I got from MidSouth (I think) with a factory rebate, somewhere in the neighborhood of $60. Added sling swivel studs and got a brick of ammo at BPS for less than $8/box.

Scope possibility

OK guys, I've pretty much made up my mind to buy it, just gonna wait untill I get paid on the 15th to go pick it up. After taking everyone's advice into consideration and looking over on rimfirecentral.com, I think I'm going to get this scope for it BSA Sweet 17
I'm thinking the 3-12x40AO would serve me pretty well for this rifle. I know BSA isn't regarded as the highest of quality scopes, but i think for $100 it would be pretty ok. What do you guys think/suggest? Thanks.
