I spotted a Savage Enfield locally not too long ago but did not inspect it very carefully, at the time I was busy checking and purchasing an RC k98.

However, it keeps popping up when thinking of the "next milsurp". It is marked "USA Property" and as I recall, the wood was very good, the metal looked OK but a closer inspection of that and the bore is warranted. My usual practice is to try and buy a good gun, things that are too beat up or worn or don't look like good shooters ... don't interest me.

If it is a "pretty good" quality example of the breed - what are these going for? I don't mind too much patronizing the local businessman and allowing for his profit ... so fair price?

Thanks.

i dont know that actual value, but a local place to me has one for 350. but they are known to have very high prices, even for MA. 300$ for a No.1 Mk3 .410 at shop 1, when i saw one for 200$ earlier that day at shop 2 and one for 250 later that day at shop 3. shop 3 is where the guy up prices, so he can do the old "well for anyone else, 250, for you, 200 even" kind of salesmenship ( really a nice guy and great shop)

anyway back to my point.
iv seen them for 350. but i suspect thats gratly over priced

I just bought one at a local gunshop for $220. Probably high, but it is in VG condition, and it shoots great.

They are marked "US Property" due to the "Lend Lease" act from around 1940 or so that said we could make guns and "loan" them to Britain, but couldn't just make guns for Britain, since we had not formally declared war yet.

... or something like that...

I paid $150 for mine several years ago. The wood is not as nice as what jrfoxxx has but the bore is shiny and it is a great shooter.
