Price on a 870

I have been offered a chance to purchase a 870 magnum express with slug barrel and 26" barrel with tasco scope and mount for $250. It has a little bit of rust on the front ramp on the rear sight. I think from being left in a case.

I haven't bought a shotgun in years nor have I looked at one, the only reason I am thinking about this shotgun is for a deer shotgun. I have shot plenty of deer with slugs with my Berretta pintail with a rib and bead for my only sight. I decided what the hell, maybe I'll give a scoped gun a try.

So I am sking if this is a good deal or not. The bolt doesn't even have any wear marks on it.

FWIW, I just got the sale flyer from a local dealer. A new 870 Express with one 28" barrel is now $229.

Don't buy a rusty gun. Get a new 870 express magnum with 26" or 28" barrel from Academy for $214

Yep, buy it. Even if the scope is trased (Tasco's don't seem to hold up well to slug shooting, JMHO), it's still a good deal on an 870.

Not a bad price but for a couple bucks more you could buy a Wingmaster instead of the Express and have a gun to last a lifetime.

I have also seen new Express's sell for around the $225 mark.
