My local gunshop (the guy could sell sand to a Bedouin....) suggested a Primary Arms SLx 2.5 prism scope for a new carbine.
I'm a complete newb to optics, having avoided them like something contagious for a long time. The bit of magnification, and the horseshoe reticle, are entirely new to me, but the price wasn't bad.
Opinions?
Thanks in advance,
Moon

PA makes a good scope (how good becomes an interminable argument).
I've--casually--shot with one out at a range.
They are likely not a horrible choice for carbine usage.
And, there are a ton of arguments in favor of the lower, 2.5X magnification on a carbine.

I don't have any myself, mostly for not having anything wanting for glass at present. Were I, for example, to wander into a Hellion or the like, I'd look hard at PA to glass that. Would I pick the SLx? Dunno.

Haven't used that specific scope, but I've liked the PA optics I've had which were all on the cheaper end of their lineup. Their reputation seems to be kind of the top tier of budget optics. Kind of in the "to get better, you'll have to spend quite a bit more" realm. They are made in China if that matters to you. For me personally it's a factor BUT not enough to prevent me from buying the right product.

One thing to note, if you're government/law enforcement/active military or vet, you can get a discount from PA. It's not a HUGE discount, but every little bit helps.
