Has anyone else had the problem of their powder container on their Lock N Load coming loose? Mine did, and dumped gunpowder all over the bench. I am considering drilling and tapping it, and putting set screws in the side, or is there any reason why I cannot glue it into the cast bracket? Has anyone else had to make a repair?

I assume you are talking about the clear plastic reservoir that sits on top of the powder measure.

It is only a press fit and I know of folks, including me, that have had trouble getting it to stay in place once removed the first time.

You could glue the reservoir in place but you could not remove it without damaging it. Silicone sealant might provide enough holding force and still be removable.

Redding holds their reservoirs on the Redding powder measures with two set screw like fasteners. The threads on the ends of the screws are turned off and this cylinder section of the screw slips into a matching hole in the reservoir.

One of these days, I will modify my Hornady powder measure but I have not used it since I decided to fix it this way. I modified a Redding 10-X powder measure for pistol cartridges loaded on the Hornady L-N-L and I do load rifle cartridges on the Hornady.

Hope this help[s.

Had that happen one time also. Didn't come completely apart so not too much lost, still a mess to clean up. My fix was simple, if not a little unsightly, just used two lengths of packing tape on opposite sides of the hopper tube at the base of the tube to fasten to the cast housing. Works like a charm.

I had read about that happening- so before it could happen to me I wrapped the lower 1/2" of the hopper and the upper 1/2" of the metal part with a nice couple of layers of good electrical tape- Scotch 33- my favorite.
Holds it very well but I can get it apart some day if needed.

If the plastic hopper is deformed where it fits the base, contact Hornady and get a new replacement.

I flipped mine over the first time I noticed it was a little low. Then contacted Hornady for a free replacement. When I put the replacement on I uses some sealant to help lock it in place. So far it show no indications of loosening up, 4 yrs now.

btw. It takes a lot of load to seat one.

I duct taped the hopper to the upper part of the measure. Works fine and has a "classic" look. Like anything else, if you want it to move use WD-40 or spit and if you want it to stay, use duct tape or bailing wire.

I put a dab of clear Goop adhesive in a couple of spots where the hopper goes into the body to prevent such occurrence.

Mine came free more than once. Dumped powder all over the floor. :cuss:

I "Super Glued" it, in-place. Hasn't been an issue since. :)

If you leave powder in the hopper on the LnL measure for any length of time the solvents in the powder will start working on the plastic of the hopper and shrinking it. When mine fell out I contacted Hornady, they asked for the serial number of the press and then told me to send the empty measure body and hopper back to them. My measure had the ribs where the hopper went in. They returned the hopper/measure body with the new hopper held in place with plastic rivets. They also sent me another new hopper for my other measure and told me to change it out (later press). All seems well for the past year. I now remove the powder as soon as I am done with the loading session.
