So I have an old Redfield wideview 3x9 form about 1975 or so.
I was on a rem 700 bdl and worked fine.

I removed it and mounted on a rem 7400 on a one piece weaver base but could not get it adjusted high enough to zero.

It sat a few years and I just mounted it to an old Marlin 336, again on a weaver base. Problem is I am not able to zero this scope.

It is around 6 inches low at 25yards with the adjuster cranked all the way up.
I have noticed the adjuster knobs only turn 2 turns from stop to stop.

Is this normal for old redfields or am i doing something wrong.

I don't remember for sure whether 2 turns is about full travel or not but to see if the scope is working correctly I'd turn the adjustment (carefully) from one stop to the other then back to the center of the total and see how that works out. If there are no problems with the mount then the scope would be suspect.

Check out John Plaster's Ultimate Sniper. He has a section about re-adjusting scopes that came off of other rifles.
