Looking for some opinions.
Currently I have an older Redfield Wideview 3-9x40 scope on my 243. This scope is probably 40 years old, and made in the USA.
I have considered upgrading to a Bushnell 4200 series, or a Nikon Primos. I would probably stay with the same 3-9x40.
I have heard some people say that the technology has changed so much that it would be a definite upgrade, and I have had others say that they don't make them like they used to, and the older Redfield would be hard to improve on.
Anyone got some input? Any other new options I should be considering?

If the scope still holds it zero, isn't fogged up and the glass isn't scratched up real bad why would you want to swap it out? That being said if I were upgrading from that scope I would stick with a Bushnell Elite 3200 or higher series or the comparable Nikon Buckmasters or Monarch series.

I have had a hard time getting the thing to zero. Makes me wonder if it isn't holding, plus the magnification ring is really hard to turn.
I am thinking Bushnell Elite 4200, or Nikon. My price range would probably be about $300, any other options in that price range?

I have a similar redfield. it looks about the same as my newish tasco world class. that is to say, pretty good. upgrade if you NEED to, but I'm done with upgrading unless my current product just won't do what I want it to. (only lately applied to guns, started with knives, computers, cars. in that order.)

I'm a fan of nikon these days.
