I am having trouble with my T/C Encore. I can not feed a round into the chamber. When I open the barrell the extraction bar does not come extend out any more. I can push the extration bar in with my finger but if I try to load a round the round does not feed into the barrell. (I have tried both reloads and factor ammo. HELP!!:banghead:

Remove the forend from your rifle. The extraction bar comes to a chamfer underneath the forend. When the rifle is opened the chamfer pushes against the bottom of the receiver pushing it out or extracting the round. When the barrel is shut the extractor pushes against the receiver and pushes forward locking the round in place.

That extraction bar should be able to be manipulated by hand. Unless grit or something else has gotten in there and is not letting it move properly.

the extraction bar will move in and out, but only with my had. for some reason the extraction bar use to have tention on the bar. now it moves in and out. Is there a spring inside?

No there is not a spring that I am aware of. Pull the barrel and play with the mechanism. It should move in and out with some effort. It should not be sloppy but a firm motion in movement. The mechanism is pretty simple clean it up and reinstall the barrel. Unless something is damaged on the frame not much that it could be.

Withe the forearm off does the mechanism work properly. Does it move in and out and lock up. If so my guess is that the forend was torqued down to tightly putting pressure on the extractor not allowing it to do its job.

It does move in and out but with no effort at all. I thought there was a flat spring that was under the extraction bar that kept pressure on the back of the extraction bar. ????

No the extraction bar does not have a spring. Just below the extraction bar the locking mechanism has a spring and a fairly stout one. The only time I have had problems with my Encore not locking up correctly was with some of my first reloads. I did not seat the shoulders back far enough when resizing.

I went and fetched my rifle and a extra barrel from the safe. I am just nto seeing anything obvious that it could be.

NOw your saying you can move the extractor in and out fully with the barrel attached to the gun??? With the barrel broke open you should be able to push the extractor in just a little bit. By no means will it let you insert it fully before closing the action. With the barrel off you can. But when installed the locking mechanism spring will prevent it untill closed.

NOw your saying you can move the extractor in and out fully with the barrel attached to the gun??? NO if the barrel is fully attached I can't push the extraction bar all the way in.
With the action open the extractor bar comes out about about 1/8 inch then i can pull out the extractor bar and another 1/8 inch.

I wish I had more to offer you. I looked my rifle over and a extra barrel. Heck I even pulled the forearm and barrel off trying to see a possible problem area.

The only other place I could see is where the locking mechanism clips into the frame when closed. I really can't figure out what might be keeping your rifle from locking up.

Sorry I wasn't more help.

Push the extractor all the way into the barrel. Does the extractor's height extend to block your case from fully chambering? A hunting buddy got a barrel with an extractor that was too tall. A round file and a stone fixed the problem.
