Problems Concealing; Shirt gets wedged between grip and back

Hi,

I have a quick question about how to improve my concealment.

I carry a S&W M&P .40. I carry it in a comp-tac minitour mtac IWB leather/kydex holster. I carry it in about the 4 o'clock position.

I find that when I get up after sitting down, my outer, untucked shirt will often get partially wedged between the grip of the weapon and my undershirt. As a result, the shirt tail rises, sometimes to the point where it's above my pants....this is obviously not good or concealment.

Longer shirts can help wth that, but they would still get wedged (just wouldn't get pulled high enough to go above my pants). When the outers shirt is tucked between the grip like that, the gun prints in an obvious way.

Is there any way to prevent this?

I don't carry concealed, but I typically pull a Picard when I stand up as I tend to wear an untucked overshirt.

Erm, that means I always tug the shirt down to smooth it and get it hanging properly.

Matt-J2, that's not a "Picard."

Yeah, I say just give your shirt a little tug whenever you stand up. I already do it out of habit and I don't need to.

You reach behind WITH YOUR LEFT HAND and pull your shirt away from your back like you've been sweating and it's sticking to you. This pulls the shirt out from behind the holster/grip.

This move looks normal as people do this all the time.

if you have adjustment room, it may help to sink the holster lower into your pants, to the grip can't stick out as far.

There's nothing wrong with that holster. I think it's the most well-designed IWB holster on the market.

I always found that if you tuck your undershirt in so there is no slack, there's no "play" for your outershirt to get inbetween.

Make sense?

You don't want to wear an extremely long, or "elastic" undershirt though, because that just gives you more crap to pull out of your pants if you need to get to your gun.

Let me know if you want me to take a photo to better explain what I mean.

I do wear an undershirt...don't really understand how that should fix it? I tuck the undershirt into my pants and behind the holster to keep my skin/sweat off the weapon. Should I be wearing the undershirt over the pistol?

I wear a textured undershirt (usually a beater) that works well for me to prevent the overshirt from being trapped behing the holser... dont tuck in the undershirt, just allow it to lay between yourself and the holster... tucking it in actually pulls the overshirt down...

I sure wish more plummers suffered from your problem. :banghead:

Problem I have had is the shirt riding over the 1911 magazines in the back. My wife usually checks me when I stand. You'd think one could notice that the shirt has ridden-up, right?!

Should I be wearing the undershirt over the pistol?

Bingo.

The M-Tac has a huge leather body shield to keep sweat off of the gun, right?

For times when you need really good concealment, tuck your undershirt in between the gun and your pants without any slack or "blouising" of the undershirt. The whole POINT of the M-Tac holster is that it is tuckable, so use it to your advantage when you need to.

Like I said, this might slow down your draw a tiny bit, but not if your undershirts aren't too long, or have any stretch to them. Even if the wind were to blow your outer shirt up, the only thing anybody would see is a couple clips on your belt, but no gun.

You may want to try moving the holster forward toward your hip a bit, as well as trying to change how you stand up; without as much forward, "Rock." I have a little "Picard move," as well, just a slight tug on both sides of my shirt. Great line, by the way!
