I bought two M1907 slings from Turner Slings, I ordered them unfinished by mistake. So, I have two leather slings that need to be treated in some manner before I start using them.

What is recommended? Standard leather care?

I don't want the slings to become too soft or slippery.

Thanks.

Care of 1907 sling, 2 steps.

Step 1:
Neatsfoot oil. Rub it in carefully. It will dry and not be oily or slippery and will keep the sling supple for the rest of your natural life if reaplied regularly.

Step 2:
Attach sling to M1 rifle or similar high class hardware. :D

Thanks, SMLE, for your quick response.

As for step 2, would a 1903 and 1903A3 be suitable? :neener:

If not, I do have an M1, just in case.;)

What do you think of Turner's M1907 sling so far? How's the quality of leather and the hardware?

I have an M1 on the way, I REALLY want an M1907 on there. Preferably in brown to match the brown M7 tanker holster I want to get for a 1911 GI.

After carefully Neatfoot oiling the 1907 sling I put it away and attach a USGI M1 green cotton webbing sling to the rifle if Im going to actually use the sling for any kind shooting that intails actually using the sling while shooting the rifle.
