Dear hard-working Mods:

I was just reading along in a thread which need not be specified, here in the handloading forum, when for the 10 MILLIONTH time the issue of using/not using handloads for CCW/Self-defense was raised.

As is often the case, it was a by a relatively new forum member. As is always the case, it 'cited' apocryphal stories about criminal/civil litigation. This, even though the writer of the initiating post had explicitly tried to deflect the thread from taking this tedious turn (kind of a 'let's not talk about that again'). I'm sure you find this topic as tiresome and overworked as I do, and I think that anyone who has done any significant reading on the topic knows that there is not a whole lot to know about it. Regardless of one's opinion, it is not a very interesting conversation to have again, and again, and again.

So I'm wondering if you might wish to post a sticky, simply as something we could refer people to. I'm not suggesting that you compile an authoritative compendium of information on the issue--simply dredging up one of the many past threads and just putting it up top with a note would suffice. That way, when somebody jumps in on an otherwise potentially interesting thread with the well-worn and well-intended jeremiad about this issue, we could just point to the sticky, and say: "Thanks for the warning, but Look at this: We're aware of the issue, and it's unlikely you have anything to say about it that hasn't been said. Please read through this before you drag yet another thread off in this dull-as-dishwater direction."

What do you say?
