First off let me say that I do like the 7.62x39 cartridge, always felt it was a great intermediate cartridge between 5.56 and .308 for ranges up to 250 yards. I've never owned an AK (but own an AR47 that I like a lot) but I have to say PSA's Gen2 Liberty rifle especially at $500 (PSA Link: 02/07/2018) has me considering one. I know they had issues with their Gen1's mainly the cast barrel block and trunion, but the Gen2 has seemingly fixed these parts with billet steel and so far there has been good reviews on them.

PSA does a really good job on their description in the advertisement below of the materials and specs so I won't go into that.

A good youtube review was performed by AK Operators Union, Local 47-74 (YouTube Link) where the poster put it through 5,000 rounds and performed accuracy testing, POI change after magazine dumps, and looked through the internals pointing out any wear and made PSA aware of his findings. The melonited 4150 barrel seems to be holding up well after 5,000 rounds, where anything but Chrome lined is sacrilege in the AK world. Seems like a pretty good USA made AK variant.

I like the Magpul furniture (I know some think of them as heresy to it's origins) but the functionality of them is nice and this coming from someone who loves nice wood and steel. I the Military Arms Channel (Link: MAC - 9:30 mark) did a simulated condensation test in sub-freezing temperatures with an AK with the Zhukov stock and it failed when attempting to mortar a round (likely due to striking it on the bottom corner rather than in line at the top of the stock), but other than that (which I agree is very concerning) the stock seems really functional (folding, adjustable) and aesthetically appealing.

One of the first upgrades it seems people suggest is upgrading the trigger to the ALG Enhanced with Lightning Bow (Link: AKT-EL) for $65. People have reported it gets an AK trigger close to some of the good AR triggers out there.

Just wanted to find out if anyone has one of these whether Gen1 or Gen2 and what your thoughts are on them?

I've been looking at them as well. I was going to buy one till they discontinued the wood stocks. I've not really been able to find much for reviews on them.

Operator error, mortaring a round is an AR fix, with the AK you just put the stock on the ground and kick the charging handle with the heel of your boot, which works to clear it and gives you a chance to practice your post-victory oppression of the vanquished :)

Nobody has one of these? Was hoping to get some first hand thoughts on these Gen2's.

Your first AK might as well be your last one. Get a Saiga, Vepr, or Arsenal.

I find it ironic that they make high end plastic stocks and then call them the "Zhukov." Zhukov would take a regular old wood stock, beat you over the head with it, and then tell you to get moving.

No. I've owned and worked on Saiga 308(X3 or4), 5.45, Vepr 308, Arsenal SGL 5.45 (X2), SLR95(X2), SLR107, CUR2, SAR1.
