I need a smaller /lighter gun to carry all day , I held the new taurus pt111 g2 & It feels great in my hand, The price is right too. Any owners on here to give a honest opinion ?

I don't know anything about the g2, but I have a PT111 I bought in 1997 as a backup/off duty gun (was an LEO then). I don't carry it or shoot it much any more, but it has never failed to go bang. The only thing I really don't like about it is that it has a manual safety.

Same here....I have an older PT111 also. Feels very good in the hand and cycles 100%.
However, for 9x19, I normally carry a Kel-Tec PF9, for thinness. The 3 extra rounds of a PT111 isn't a big deal to me.
The Taurus is just too chubby for my tastes. It does duty as my 'shop gun' these days.
.

I still carry mine occasionally, in an OWB kydex holster. I have a bunch of handguns, but it's the only 9mm I own.

I also have an older PT111 - circa 1999. Trigger could be better, but that is my only complaint. It is still my carry weapon.

The only trouble I have had out of it was when I tried to run some steel cased ammo through it. Not a good experience. Feeding jams, extraction jams, and then a broken extractor; however, Taurus' lifetime warranty covered the repair without any problem. Leave the steel cased ammo for the eastern block weapons.

I bought the PT 111 G2 9mm last weekend. I took it to the Range today and shot 50 rounds of Federal 115 gr., and 50 rounds of Blazer 115 gr. The gun worked perfectly, no jambs and no misfires. I am very pleased with it.

I had an older PT-111 and while the gun itself was well made and reliable I just never cared for the way it balanced in my hand. I could never get a comfortable grip on the gun and had problems getting a quick sight picture with it. Eventually I sold it and picked up a Ruger SR9c.

I just picked up the G2 today. Haven't done more than clean it thus far. I have a PT111 I bought new in 2005 that has right about 10,000 rounds through it with 0 issues. It has never failed to go bang or cycle as it should. I have not done anything to it except clean it. I expect the new one to perform equally as well as the original.

I bought an first gen Pt-111 and found that I had a number of fail-to-fire with S&B ammo. Feel and balance was good but I could never feel like I would bet my life on it. I have glock 26 now - for a few $$ more, I have 100% reliability. YMMV.

I have a PT111 gen 3. I would highly reccomend trying to find a gen 3. My first was a gen 2 with teh DAO trigger i found it was to heavy for me however I also have a tendon from my left foot that was grafted into my trigger finger. so for you that may be a moot point.

Function wise both the gen 2 I used to own and the gen 3 I am currently packing as I type were flawless.

Hope this helps
