Now this would be worth the hassle of getting the $200 Tax Stamp :)

Yes, where else would you get a flamethrower that also shoots a .30 caliber bullet?

I had a full length 18" barrel PTR-91 and it was somewhere between unpleasant and miserable to shoot from a recoil and blast perspective. This SBR is for a masochist.

Ive never shot the PTR's, I did own a couple of HK91's. I cant imagine they'd be all that much different.

Blast was no worse than anything else like them Ive owned. Recoil depends on what stock you are using. The collapsing "A3" stocks pretty much suck, and best left to those who like to look cool over actually shooting the gun, the standard "A2's" are not bad at all, and the better stock if you shoot.

I wonder what it would take to make it run full auto with a Fleming sear? Would it be an easy conversion?

Depending on the trigger pack, it could be very easy to some moderate work. The only other thing you would need, would be a G3 bolt carrier.

One thing I never understood with the HK's was, why the ATF didnt ban them all like they did the open bolt semis. They are probably easier than anything else to convert to full auto.

They probably figure anyone honest who can afford a HK isn't someone to worry about, and anyone dishonest who can afford one would probably just pick up a real full auto on the black market.

Those HK SBRs look awesome, but doesn't it basically give you about the same power as a 7.62x39, with a tremendous amount of muzzle blast?

I bought a V51P and had someone who allegedly knew what they were doing machine the trigger group and installed my sear. It never did run even semi auto much less full.

In that one youtube video, it looked more than managible on FA. That's a lot of lead down range.

That's what the Internet says.

Shooting at 300m targets I can hit them far more readily and consistently than I ever could with any AK, and stuff that gets shot gets torn far more to hell with it than with the SAR-1.

Been shooting mine, including the hell of getting one to run with a HVT before Gemtech offered them in HK metric, since the '04 sunset.

PTR's hit the price point on this one if they run, although as usual I'd dread owning one without the proper mag release.

I would imagine that a skilled handloader could come up with a recipe employing a heavy enough projectile with a light enough powder charge to make a 10" 7.62x51 firearm cycle without eyebrow singeing muzzle blast.

But then, I exfoliate my knuckles by dragging them on the ground, so who cares?
