Quality was variable, more bad than good.
The sample I had was poorly machined, had ejection problems, and wandered all over a 100-yard target with a couple loads.
Early ones had fake woodgrain.
I've heard enough bad about them to not want to take a chance, especially since I want a .50-95. The wood looks great until you get close and realize the grain is painted on. Uberti all the way for me. It'll cost more but your odds are far better that you'll end up with a good one.
I bought one of their 1873's in 45 Colt. I had to shim the hammer spring to make it reliable. I got it for half the cost of an Uberti and that's about what it's worth. The wood is fair, but has zero finish, so I'll put an oil finish on it when I get some time. I bought it for a project gun so I wasn't surprised. If you just want to shoot and show get the Uberti. Otherwise be prepaired to do some work.
I almost bought one here in town until I gave it a good inspection. The machining was junk, the wood was junk. You would be paying a lot for a wall hanger.
