The front of the bolt is the part with the extractor that fits onto the rear of the cartridge. Therefore unless the cartridge that you wish to change to happens to be the same size you will need a new bolt.
Many folks believe that the bolt on an ar should be kept with one barrel and that swapping a bolt from barrel to barrel will wear the bolt lugs faster . This has been the way I run my ARs . I have a bolt for each rifle (even though most are 5.56)
A 7.62 X 39 Upper will fit on a AR Lower. You can use a straight 20rnd Mag and it will fit and feed just fine. The bolt is different but that can come with the upper.
AR-15 REP has it right - the lower will function as will the mag for both 556x45 and 762x39 , your upper will be diferent [thats so obvious] but i said it anyway , the diferance between a 22cal and 30cal bbl is just so easy , as is the bolt head and extractor ,
the length of the cartrige makes a bigger diferance [762x51 will be a diferent lower & upper], and no you wont use an AK magazine in an AR
