Is it feasible to do this? I recently inherited some .44 magnum once-fired brass. I don't own a .44 magnum and don't have one on my list any time soon.

However, I'm a bit interested in a particular .44 special I've seen on the shelf.

Can a trim this stuff down to .44 special length and then load it? If so, what's the correct length?

TIA

You can, but the case capacity of the thicker Magnum brass will not be the same as a .44 Special case. So, load data will need to be adjusted down accordingly.

Your reloading manual will tell you the correct trim-too length.

Oh wait!
You must not have a reloading manual, which is a very necessary part of any reloading set-up!
Better getsum for your own self!

BTW: It is 1.150".

Either 98 or 100, I have a short attention span when counting. I have a bunch of other big rifle brass that I've picked up at the range as well.

Sure, it'll work. But, if you think the gun gods or the Easter Bunny will ever forgive you, you're WRONG!

if you do not already have the gun, why not just buy a 44 mag. then you can shoot either. and if you are reloading anyway, you can download to 44 special loads in the magnum case. makes more sense to me.
