The Stars At Night Are Big And Bright....Deep In T
Okay sorry if i spelled Enfield wrong. But my wife's grandfather was showing me some of his really really old guns. And I noticed one of the ones he had was an Enfield. A 1942 Lee Enfield in .303 it has a clip and is bolt action, it is in really good condition everything works great and smooth. Probably a stupid comment but I can't figure out who the Manufacturer is. Any of you know about this rifle, what it's worth and all. I know that his father was only the second owner. And it likely saw action in WW2, I will post pictures of it as soon as I can take them.

It has a magazine, not a clip. You haven't posted enough information. Post every marking on it.
Where is the rear sight? If it's on the rear of the receiver, it's likely a No. 4 Mk I or Mk I* (the asterisk is know as a 'star'). They're are all chambered in .303 British, although some have been rebarreled to .308win. 10 shot magazine. Is the serial number on the back of the bolt handle the same as the one on the receiver?
If it was made in Canada, it will have Longbranch and the year stamped on the left side of the receiver. If it was made by Savage, it will have 'U.S. Property' stamped on it. Otherwise, look under the bolt handle and post what is stamped there. However, I'm guessing it is a Brit made rifle.
Pop over to the Enfield forum at http://www.jouster.com/. There are guys there who can almost tell you the time of day it was made, but post every marking including the serial number.
What it's worth depends on condition and if the serial numbers match.
