Question about Academy Sports and Outdoors

I hit the jackpot at Christmas this year and picked up $250.00 in gift cards from Academy. About a month ago I won another $100.00 gift card from Academy in a raffle. I have a hankering to buy a Saiga in .223, a buddy of mine has one and it is a hoot to shoot. It will eat the cheapest steel cased ammo where my AR pukes on anything but 5.56 NATO or my very carefully resized hand loads.
Can Academy order a Saiga for me? I don't feel like driving 45 minutes just to walk out of the store pizzed off.

Can't say for sure but I kinda doubt it. Never seen a Saiga of any variety in an Academy. Why don't you call them and ask?

:banghead: Duh! I guess I should have thought of that! Actually I'm so lazy that posting a question on High Road is easier than getting up out of my chair, then walking across the room and picking up the phone... then I'd have to look up the number... yeah asking the question is far easier.

take a look at their yildiz shotguns. pretty good gun for the money. and their monarch ammo is a fair deal.

When I talked to the OKC Academy I was told that they do not special order guns, WYSIWYG.

Yea, the store here ib Tuscaloosa, Alabama said that they couldn't special order firearms....

No orders. If they don't have it, ya can't get it. There is the rare exception that you find a knowledgeable person in the department and they can tell you if they might be getting something. Other than that, it is a big box sporting goods store. They offer competitive prices on what they carry, and seem to have done a good job picking up where Wal-mart has allowed the arts/crafts department to annex their sporting goods.

One of the guys at the gun counter in Academy told me they were getting a new computer system after the first of the year. He said it would allow them to get something other than what was just sent to them. Not really sure if that meant they could just request a specific caliber of gun they carried and didn't have in stock or what. Then again he just may not have known what he was talking about.
